Yes. Santa Claus is a contraction of San Niklos, short for Saint Nicholas.
Saint Nicholas was the archbishop of a Turkish community called Myra during the reigns of Emperor Diocletian, and then Emperor Constantine. St. Nicholas was one of the bishops who participated in the first ecumenical council, the one at Nicaea in 325 AD.
Nicholas was a shy man, and wanted to help out his flock sometimes without being detected doing so. A poor family needed help with a dowry, so he dropped coins down their chimney. The coins fell in a stocking that was being hung to dry.
There you go... "Santa Claus" was very real.
On the other hand, DNA evidence shows beyond any doubt of any kind at all that the aboriginal inhabitants of North America are not descended from any semitic peoples whatsoever, let alone a "lost tribe of Israel." Take that for what it is worth....

Yes, there is plenty of evidence. If you want the most concrete evidence to my soul, read the book from cover to cover then pray with real intent and faith. If you do it right, with full purpose of heart, there will be a burning within your soul that will let you know without a shadow of a doubt that it is true.
But if you want things more like physical evidence, which I don't believe to be truly as powerful and faith-confirming, I'll give you a couple of evidences from archeological standpoint. There are many different archeological evidences of the Book of Mormon. If you are familiar with any of the stories in the Book of Mormon, you are probably aware of Lehi's Vision of the "Tree of Life". In 1941, a stone carving was found in the Mayan jungles that depicts a story that is very similar to that of Lehi's vision. This rock is known as Stele 5. You are probably familiar with how we believe that Christ visited the people of the Americas shortly after his ressurection. Both the Mayans and the Aztecs had a god (in mayan either Quetzalcoatl or Kuklucan) who was supposedly white, bearded, and had blue eyes. He is also known as the Descending god. Apparently, this god came down from the heavens and promised to return the same way. Another evidence is the city of Tulum, Mexico. This is a mayan ruin. Interestingly enough, it is set up in the same way that ancient Jeruselum was. there are the same number of entrances. There is the temple (temple of Kuklucan) which is surrounded by a wall. There is then another wall that surrounds the city. Within the inner wall, it is set up just like Moses' Tabernacle or Solomon's temple. There is an alter, then a washbasin, and then the temple itself. Within the temple there are two rooms, just like the tabernacle or Solomon's temple. Other evidences include that there was an ancient people (the olmecs) before the mayans and aztec cultures. This is similar to the book of Mormon's jaredites. There are many others, but these should help give you some insight.

"Believing in the Book of Mormon"... what does that even mean?
And yes there is evidence that supports what's written in the book of mormon. You need to look for it past all the Christian promoted Anti-Mormon sites and books.
You need to read:
Mormon Doctrine of Diety, any Hugh Nibley, Cowley's Talks on Doctrine, Jeff Lindsay (www.crackedplanet.com), FAIR, FARMS, The Lives and Travels of Mormon and Moroni, A Marvelous Work and Wonder, Anything from B.H.Roberts.
Of course these books are written by Mormons, so you might reject the evidence no matter how concrete.

Yes it does. If you let go of your belief in Santa you become a person that is accepted for knowing the truth. If you are Mormon and stop believing you become a person who your believing family and friends and neighbors think has somehow sinned or has stopped thinking clearly. It can be so painful to be the outcast.

Let's make a deal. Read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and then decide if it was inspired or not. I'm just saying: read it before you comment on it.
