What about salmon? I saw some really skinny stray kittens and I thought of feeding them, but I have no catfood.

Yes...It's probably safer for them than raw fish. But if you want to continue to feed those kitties, I suggest you buy cat food for 2 reasons. 1) Nutritionally balanced, 2) Cheaper than people food.

There is nothing wrong with giving the cats cooked salmon though fish isn't the best diet for cats and if it is cooked you must remove the bones. Get some cat food. Commercial food all has taurine added and that is essential for cat health - lack of it can lead to blindness and heart problems. Any food you cook will have the taurine destroyed in the cooking process.

Raw chopped up chicken wings, a small amount of raw liver and raw chicken heart and gizzards make a completely balanced meal for cats too. Calcium in the bone, lean-muscle meat from the wings and a little fat in the skin. The liver is rich in Vitamin A which the cat needs as it cannot make it in its body. The hearts and gizzards are excellent sources for the taurine. The chicken should be hormone and anitbiotic free.

The cats will love that!

Sure, just cook it, and pull the skin off and bones out.
If you want to make it into a little more food for them, mix a little cooked rice into it- not too much, just enough to give them more of a meal.
Many wet cat foods have fish in them.
