Looks that way, at least after Blair leaves:
DailyMail,UK

The head of the British Army has said the presence of UK armed forces in Iraq "exacerbates the security problems".
Sir Richard Dannatt, Chief of the General Staff, has said that the British should "get out some time soon".

He also said: "Let's face it, the military campaign we fought in 2003, effectively kicked the door in."

There are currently more than 7,000 British soldiers in Iraq, based largely in Basra in the south of the couintry.
The comments directly contradicted so much of what the government had said. Sir Richard might be issuing a "very public warning" to the next prime minister, Sir Richard added that any initial tolerance "has largely turned to intolerance. That is a fact."

Sir Richard, who took on his role in August, also said planning for what happened after the initial successful war military offensive was "poor, probably based more on optimism than sound planning".

convinced..humm ...as a matter of fact that is my wish. And No. Not a democrat. Just tired of all the killing .It's so senseless.
And my next wish? humm that all of our remaining troops simply lay down their arms one day, tell the Iraqis that they are sorry, and just leave. Just leave. Oh and yes. That they take those weapons and pile them in front of that prestigious Green Zone, along with a note for George Bush., saying:
" We've had enough; now its YOUR turn."

This war could never have been won. From the beginning it was a hopeless useless war, and only now are people starting to realise that. Yet millions of lives will have been wasted before it is entirely over, if it can ever be entirely over. It is a war against belief, it is a war against hearts and minds, not against people. America and Britain will never be able to convince millions of people that they are right and Osama, et al, are wrong. Because Osama, et al, are not wrong. The proof of that is in how absolutely perfectly the attack on the WTC happened. Nothing could ever happen that perfectly without the sanction of some higher power.

The U.S. has been handing over parts of Iraq back to Iraq all year. By the begining of next year over 75% of Iraq will be in the hands of Iraq. One of those areas is Basra. The British soldiers will no longer be needed there. They will probably end up in Afganistan. My guess is the U.S. will pull out in late 2007 or early 2008.

I heard that this morning. I would wager a number of our American generals are saying or thinking the same thing.
This was never a winnable war. We had no legitimate reason for being there in the first place. I know whom to blame for this too.

I'm not a bush supporter but I do want to extend my congrats to our cousins the Brits for finally growing some balls. Now thats a hero I could admire. Too bad the men in America aren't brave enough to follow their common sense.
