Maybe if I didnt have anything planned on that day because you know if its someones b-day they mostlikely have something in mind and hey there is nothing better than to be with a girl on your b-day

sorry had to read and answer. where is your confidence? never doubt yourself, just ask him, the worst he can say is "no" and it depends if hes that type of guy to go out to dinner and the movies.
