I know most Catholics toe the line on this issue, but other Christian denominations don't seem to see the hipocracy of thier differing views.

Maybe you should consider calling yourselves anti-abortion. Calling yourself "pro-life" makes it sound like you hold ALL life worth saving.

Pagen Rebirth, you're a f ukken idiot (like all pagens). Are you suggesting that people have abortions so that we can all have a better quality of life? Pagens are morons, one and all.

I guess I don't have enough respect for pagens to bother to spell the word correctly. And the word was "idiot."

Baby's Mom: Do you understand YOUR Bible? An eye for an eye is about just compensation. Or are you suggesting we start practicing corporal punishment? So if you hit someone with your car and break their leg you should have your leg broken? You should keep your mouth shut if you do not understand the passage you are quoting.

I am pro-life and not pro capital punishment.

The first murderer was sent into exile, cities of refuge were set up for those guilty of manslaughter when the law "thou shalt not kill" was given. King David killed Urriah in order to steal his wife, imagine both adultry and murder and yet he was forgiven. Jesus did not say an "eye for an eye" but said regarding his murderers " Forgive them for they know not what they do". Stephen a great preacher was stoned to death, he called the words of Jesus "forgive them". Many of the apostles were put to death and did not ask for vengence. In the Foxes Book of Martyers Christians burning at the stake, never called for vengence. Vengence is mine, I will repay saith the Lord.

first of all, abortion and capital punishment have no longer something to do with one yet another. there is not any inherent contradiction in being professional-determination and anti-demise penalty OR vice-versa. those are the two especially complicated themes, and the two deserve intense theory and advantageous communicate. regrettably, the two debates all too frequently devolve into call calling and the bringing up of bumper sticky label slogans. so a techniques as Christians helping the demise penalty, it rather is authentic that there are various Bible passages (rather interior the OT) that help capital punishment, frequently for terribly easy offenses: - Adultery (Leviticus 20:10) - Blasphemy (Leviticus 24:sixteen) - Breaking the Sabbath (Exodus 31:14 & 15) - Disobedient babies (Exodus 21:15 & 17; Leviticus 20:9) - Homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13) - no longer being a virgin on your wedding ceremony night (yet on condition which you're a woman - Deuteronomy 22:13-22) yet, there are various passages (esp. interior the recent testomony) that are ANTI-demise penalty. as an occasion, Matthew 5:38-39 insists that violence shall no longer beget violence. James 4:12 says that God is the only person who can take a existence interior the call of justice. Leviticus 19:18 warns against vengeance (which, rather, is what the demise penalty quantities to). In John 8:7, Jesus himself says, "enable he who's devoid of sin solid the 1st stone." there are various, many functional problems with capital punishment (that I won't get into here), yet purely from a ethical viewpoint, i can't think of that Jesus could help it. authentic Christians shouldn't, the two.

"Pro life" is the response to the Pro abortion people calling themselves 'pro choice'. If they would be honest with their language, we could also be honest with ours. THEY framed the dichotomy.

If you cannot see the difference between an innocent baby that never hurt anyone and a convicted murderer, I don't know what I can tell you. Capital punishment affirms the right of the innocent to live by punctuating the results that evil men can expect.

Wait ...
I am a Christian and I am against abortions as much as being against capital punishment or assisted suicide. I believe that life and death is not up to humans but only God's decision. All the Christians I know agree with me on the same issues.

By the way, you stated the "Why do the majority of Christians ... ?" do you know the majority of Christians, have you heard every Christian's views ... ? Stop stereotyping people and get straight facts.

I have to ask what makes you think that "most christians" are for capital punishment? ..I could take a survey of 10 people and lets say that 7 people agreed with me I could then say "70% of the people interviewed thought ____" and I wouldn't be lying but it would surely give a false picture of what the truth is now would it? truth is no one really knows what the "majority" thinks.

...I am a pro-life (anti-abortion), when it comes to unborn babies.
...God is love, but He is also just. In matters of justice, yes I support the use of the death penalty, in cases of premeditated, convicted murderers. If you look at the Scriptures, that principle was in place BEFORE the Law was given. (Genesis 9:6)
...In Romans 13, observe:
1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves.
3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same;
4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake.
...Also, if the death penalty should be applied swiftly and properly (it is said that if you get on California's Death Row, you will most likely die of old age!).
...One more thing, the death penalty is a deterrent to crime (what executed murderer ever returned to do it again?)

I am against abortion, I believe it is murder of innocent babies. On the other hand I do believe in justice. These people on death row are there for a reason they do not belong in society there fore they need to be taken out. I don't believe rehabilitation works, some people are just bad eggs. These people are paying the consequences of their wrong doing.

Good question, and thanks for not making it a generalized question. I'm not pro-choice, but I do not judge or condemn those that are. If they ask my opinion I will give it, but other than that, it is none of my business. As far as the Capital Punishment, I would have to say that I ride the fence. Most people on Death Row, should just stay in prison, I don't think death is the better option. But there are those, that have committed crimes unimaginable to the human mind, and maybe they should be put to death. I personally couldn't put them to death, but again, it's none of my business. I don't imagine it ever will be.

I'm a christian in the UK and I don't support either. We offer counselling to women considering abortions but we don't give our faith's views to them or try to judge them, it's not allowed in our training. We are taught to cherish life as a gift from God, his to give and his to take away. I find that to be the guideline in the Bible.

Pro-life supports the INNOCENT baby.
Capital punishment is against a 'NON-INNOCENT person.

(Clarification; some pro-lifers are total anti-abortion; however I see where an INNOCENT mother could lose her life in favor of saving a baby's life; I have a problem with that scenario).
