It seems that if you ask a question on religion or ethics from the point of view of an atheist with a view to gaining peoples oppinions and promoting discusion, many of the answers are from irate religious people who "pity" you or hate you because you have different beliefs. I assume they report abuse because they are offended by someone having a different view which questions thiers, although surely the point of discussion is to express your own oppinions, listen to those of others and pick the most intelligent or interesting to think about further.

Do you think us atheists should start treating them as they do us and reporting them for abuse either on the grounds of having beliefs which question ours, or for simple arrogance and intent to offend?

I am not accusing all christians and muslims, some give verry interesting answers.

I do not ask questions which are intentionally offensive, only ones which may aid me to better understand others mindsets.

I do not expect everybody to have the same view as me.

Any intelligent answers?

I know the question isn't very in depth or intelligently put, but that doesn't mean you should give crap answers.

TTC- not trying to cause a fuss it just infuriates me that people can't accept discussion. The important word there is DISCUSSION not ARGUMENT

The only times I (a Christian) have reported has been when someone showed something with adult content, which I don't want my children seeing, and when some one was being extremely racist and abusive. If that offends anyone, I'm sorry, but there's no excuse for that.

Wow--I'm new to this and didn't realize that such "abuse reporting" was going on. Seems to me that if you ask a question in a forum such as this--whether you're a Christian, Muslim, atheist, or whatever--you ought to be open to any and all answers that you get, unless they are just downright mean and truly abusive in nature. I mean, what do you expect? To get only answers from people who agree completely with you? (I am a Christian and have received answers that have openly challenged my beliefs. But I know what I believe and don't expect that everyone will agree with me, and that's OK!)

I've made no secret of being an atheist, and of saying that I think the Hebrew Bible is myth. But, as far as I know, I have never been reported for abuse. I think even the most "radical" Christians here are tolerant of what we say as long as we say it with civility.

They must have been to busy reading their bible to pay any attention to the constitution and our rights to our opinions and ability to express them. Nah I say we be the bigger person and just ignore the thumbs downs and the reporting, why should we really give a **** what they think anyway.

If you asking objective questions without slurs or slams you are welcome. but if you are here to make trouble. You belong in another catagory.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

I don't do that, I try to answer ppl's questions honestly. Although some are irritating bc they don't seem to understand Christianity much.

Um...The athiest usually say something attacking, like,"Why are Christians such a holes?" Or,"You are all uneducated idiots?" That is why you get reported, not because of your beliefs. It really is sad that you have nothing better to do with your time than pick on everyone else for thier beliefs. I don't rave to you about mine.
