a friend of mine had her fourth child on tuesday (she was induced with pitocin). i went in with her to have it. they have already told her that this baby was getting pretty close to ten pounds. she decided to have an epidural, and so she got one. her husband shows up at ten am (we'd been there since 5 am), and bursts in the room yelling and screaming and cussing her because she'd gotten an epidural. he actually ran at her bed and punched the pillow that her head was laying on, while this poor woman was in labor!! the jerk even told her that he was going to pack up his stuff and leave their other three kids, ages 6,5 & 3 home alone and that he was going to divorce her because she'd had an epidural!!! the nurse, fortuneatly, was in the room when he came busting in. by the time the nurse got him out of the room, they had had to put my friend on oxygen because the baby's heart rate had dropped. they kicked him out of the hospital, and when he called later to "apologize" you could hear him

beating one of the kids because he wanted to talk to his mother!! he even threatened to come up to the hospital and beat up the doctor & nurse (both females). so who else thinks that jerk should get into serious trouble??? i still do not understand how an epidural is against the baptist faith. (he is a baptist preacher) i know that when i had my daughter, i had an epidural but it did not work. the jerk even accused me of "forcing" her to have an epidural, or that the doctor forced her to do it.

i know that with the first three he made her go in alone to have the baby and would not let her have any pain medication (all her babies are nine pounds and up, this baby weighed 9lbs 11oz). with the 3rd baby, the jerk actually assaulted the doctor for giving her staidol!!

Well Epidurals are a personal choice each woman should make! It's her body and her baby yes, the man did take some part in the creation of the baby during conception however long that took?
The only thing with the epi.'s is the side effects like the longer labor's, the headaches if not done properly,or even a spinal fluid leak that needs to be repaired with a blood patch. So there is a lot to consider when choosing. Ultimately it'a a personal choice and no one should freak out over like your friends husband did he only made what is a beautiful experience into a bad hurtful memory for his wife and something he will regret later on. It really could have been awful if something could or did go wrong with the delivery God forbid and the last memory he or she would have had was him running in yelling at her for no reason over something that's not his decision in the first place! I always say think before you speak because you might have to eat those words someday! I hope all is well Congrats on the New LIL 1!

I had one with my first. It really helped with contractions. But I will tell you this, it did nothing when it came time to push. I still felt the extreme pressure and the burning when he crowned. But I am glad I had it because I had 3rd degree tearing and couldn't imagine how that would have been if I didn't have it. The contractions for me weren't so bad. I've always had bad menstrual cramps and that's what it felt like to me I feel like I could have went all the way without the epidural but like I said, I had bad tearing so I am very thankful I got it. I was able to rest a bit too. ( I would have rested more if it wasn't for the stupid blood pressure cuff going off every 20 min. or a nurse coming in constantly.) I think I will have an epidural again this time. I am not sure.

He doesn't seem like a christian to me. I am Baptist, my grandpa is a baptist preacher and my step dad is a baptist preacher. I had an entrathecal during the birth of my children, which is similar to an epidural. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that you cannot have pain relief during child birth. What an idiot. He should be arrested! Seriously. Why did no one call the cops on him??? What a jerk. She should leave him. Why does she continue to have chidlren with this maniac??

That is crazy he is a jerk. It's her body and pain and most of all choice not his. I would like to see him lay in the bed and push a watermellon out of a lemon. I want to smack him and I don't even know him. If I was her I would go see me a divorce lawyer. I'd rather deal with four kids on my own instead of five. Sounds like he is a big sissy. he probable couldn't whip his way out of a wet paper bag. The stupid punk......

He would feel much different if a 10lb baby was ripping it's way out of HIS lower abdomen. What a jerk. That is interesting that he is a baptist preacher... I dunno about epidurals, but swearing, screaming ang threatening violence are not very baptist ways to act.
