Ok, I've had this bump on my amr for years, but it hasn't really been noticable until about a year ago. It almost looks like a pimple now. the raised bump itself is maybe two centimeters in diameter, the red area around it is about 1/4 of an inch. It has a pinkish center, surrounded by a tiny bit of dark red. It's not really growing wider, just became a little more raised. and the skin on top of it keeps peeling off. What could this be? My doctor is booked for months, and it's knda bugging me that I can't find out what this is not matter how much research I do. If anyone has seen this before, I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks again!

ANY spot on your skin that changes, grows, peels or you think is strange should be checked by a doc!!!! If you cannot get in to see your own doc...go to someone else!!

If you've had it for years with out change, I'd say make the appointment and wait the months for the doctor. But since you say that it's starting to change a bit in color and is flaking, I would tell them that it's an emergency, or try to find another doctor within your health plan. It could be something as simple as psorisis or as serious as skin cancer. Don't mess around with it - I would get it looked at as soon as possible.

Call your doctor and see if he/she has a cancellation or find another doctor, preferably a dermatologist. It could be simply a cyst, but hard to tell without seeing it.The fact that it has become raised and is peeling is a sign that you really need to have it examined to make sure it is not melanoma.
