I just brought a young stray cat home from work, she was outside.
I saw some black flecks fall onto my t-shirt, and saw an adult cat flea this morning. The cat's been in the home 2 days. I intend to clean and vaccumn the rugs and scrub the floors and treat the cat as well, is there anything else I should do?

First get some flea medice for the cat, we use Revolution for our cat. To get ride of the fleas, put some beer in some bowls and place them through out the house. For some odd reason fleas love the stuff, they just jump in and drown.Don't worry the cat shouldn't try to drink the beer.

I have 23 rental homes and we always use Raid Indoor foggers, if you follow the instruction they do work. It will take 2 bombings to get rid of the fleas. Then you need to use a fleas killer on your cat, Frontline and Advantage are the 2 my Vet has recommended. Good Luck KG

You are going to have to vaccuum daily. Get a really good flea comb. Use the comb daily, and dip it in very hot water (as hot as you can tolerate) after each pass. If she will tolerate it, give her a flea bath. The only thing I have found to really help is the Hartz cat flea collar (it is white and purple). It will take awhile to get rid of the fleas. We fought them for two years. We also found a carpet powder made by zodiac that also helped.

Take it to the vet and get dipped. Kitty is probably too young for Frontline, but inquire about it anyway and hope like hell that she isn't.

If you get the frontline done, you shouldn't have to bomb, but if you don't get it done, you will have to bomb. Use only the Adam's foggers from the pet stores, they kill the flea eggs and nothing else does. If you don't kill the eggs, you are wasting time and money.

Advantage. Best stuff I ever tried. When I used Advantage, I never found it necessary to bomb or vacuum or do anything else.

Advantage kills fleas on contact. You can find it at a vet's office or order it online or via telephone from Drs. Foster and Smith.

don't use flea bombs they dont work wast of mony + time.
We had the same thing happen to us.(the cat had 6 kittens.)
1st try flea combing the cat+smashing the fleas with a spoon.
2nd See your vet and ask for flea medicine (Not flea bombs!)
and fleas are attracted to white.
To test if you have fleas put a bowl of water with a lamp on it for at least 1/2 day.
Yes I have seen an adult Flea (I was the only one getting bitten)
