Yes, Pascal's Wager is philosophy. We need to remember that the Christian Coalition who slams science on a regular basis can't even tell the difference between scientific theory and the common use of the word theory in the general population. Not surprising that one of them would label PW as science, they don't have a clue what it is. Sometimes I wonder how they justify turning on electric lights, driving their cars or taking medicines. Guess THAT type of science is okay lol.

Born Again: Sorry hon, but PW is philosophy of thought, not of applied science. Nice try at splitting hairs though ;).

I posed the question based on Pascal's wager. You obviously didn't like that, sorry. It was an honest question meant to hear the atheist side. Only 1 or 2 people answered calmly without ad-hominem attack. I never said the question was science, but it is a well thought out question that can spark good debate . . . or at least I think so.

Pascal's wager purely works in case you assume Christianity is actual. in any different case, there is not any God determine to wager against. From a nontheistic attitude, that's only too imprecise a reasoning to evaluate. o.k., I contend that it would be extra powerful to have confidence in God than to no longer, yet which God do i %? lower back, Pascal's wager assumes the Christian God is genuine. faith is an important circumstance for those arguments to paintings; arguments that attempt to tutor God's existance or necessity interior the 1st place! Behold, the atheist's counter-wager: stay your existence nicely, and do all you may to help mankind. If God would not exist, a minimum of you used your one existence nicely. If God does exist, he will advantages your love and kindness. If God would not advantages you considering you probably did no longer have confidence in him, this is not any longer the form of God you may want to spend eternity with in any case.

Yes, indeedy, Pascal's Wager IS Philosophy...of course you *could* call it the science of Philosophy but I'd much rather see them sit around and argue about it. Have a good one! :)

I don't know what the original "question" was, but I think you might have screwed up yours. (Did you mean Occam's (sp?) Razor?)
Why are Christians on or in EVERY category on this site?
I know there are a lot of Christians - particularly a lot of different KINDS of Christians, but c'mon already.
If someone asks a question about a herniated disc in their neck - next thing you know either the "Christians" caused it, YOU caused it because you violated "Christian" Doctrine or a "Christian" is the only one who can fix it.
WHY? If this is going to be the Christians Only Site - say so, and let's create one that doesn't throw someone's version of Christianity into EVERYTHING!!!
How many questions have been asked, so far, requesting advice about Christian Approved Hallowe'en garb for 5 year olds?
I'm Catholic, ergo, I AM a Christian - but I AM NOT a CHRISTIAN - so I am repeatedly told by arrogant no-nothings that I will burn in hell for eternity. Go to the Christian No-nothing Site for Idiotic Questions You Already Know the Answer to but Just Want to Annoy Anyone who Doesn't Conform to your Version of Religion, please.
Thank you.
