If you honestly believe there is such a thing as "Witch Craft" that is more than a bunch of Wiccans dancing around trying to imitate the ancient celts, then you need help.
Harry Potter is a fine series, you shouldn't let your religion get in the way of reading FICTION. I mean, just like the divinci code, the author admits it's fiction, so what's the problem?

You seem like a very angry and close-minded person, and looking at the rest of your questions and answers you're either a troll or you have some kind of weird grudge against Christians. I'm not even religious so this doesn't offend me at all, but lady, you need some help. Either way, the reason why *some* Christians ban the Harry Potter series is because according to their religion, witchcraft is a sin. It's true many Disney movies contain magic or some form of wizardry, or other things that might be offensive to certain Christian beliefs, so maybe you're right, it's likely that the *few* Christians that ban the Harry Potter series may also avoid certain Disney films. Yes, maybe even Wizard of Oz. But not every Christian. Shocking, I know, but somehow, NOT EVERY CHRISTIAN IS ALIKE. :O le gasp.

Yes.
A lot think it will corrupt their minds and make them witchy or something. If they are brought up strongly and correctly in their faith, books and movies like Harry Potter should not sway them.
I am a Christian, and I love Harry Potter. I know the difference between great fiction and stories I love, and my faith.
AND most of the Christians that won't let their children read it and BAN them, admit to never even reading the books. Figures! Ok, If you have a problem with it, don't ruin it for everyone else...

I see nothing wrong with Harry Potter, and I can't understand why any Christian would.
Did you know that, back in the 40's, "Christians" tried to have the Wizard of Oz banned? Seemed they got irritable, cuz there's a "Good Witch" in the movie.
Some "Christians" have a problem with Disney movies. They think there are sex scenes in them. Guess I missed something.....
I guess some people just really don't need a good excuse...any excuse will do.

Not christian but could not let this one slide.
News flash !!!!!!!!
After many months of investgations........
It has been discovered that Harry Potter is not real but is a character in a fictional book. The book and later the movie has gotten great reviews due to its authors talent as a writer/storyteller !!!!!!!
Now get a life !!!!!
p.s. "fictional" means that it is not real, based on imagination or even a falsehood. Sort of like another book called bible.

I am a Christian and my sons have read all of the books and seen the movies. I say it depends on your personal view and their age and maturity. I have seen far more "evil" cartoons. My sons know that it is fiction. I read what they read first. I make that judgment call only then. I believe Harry Potter is no more evil than the Wizard of Oz. It is the classic good versus evil combined with the underdog makes good.

Firstly, JK Rowling is a Christian and an active member of the Church of Scotland.
Secondly, I think if, as a parent, you are comfortable with the intensity and dark theme of the video and your child's age and understanding, there is no harm.
If anything, it will be a cultural connecting point for your child to know what other people believe and think, and you can discuss it with them and compare what it says with the Bible.
Finally, remember. It is just a story. Fiction.

Yea! It's all good. Ain't nothin' wrong wit it. Harry Potter doesn't give out any negative messages whatsoever. So it's ok with me. I'm christian and I watch Harry Potter. It just talks about issues people encounter once you think about it: you've got a protagonist(s) and an antagonist(s).

The Bible says to even abstain from the appearence of evil. What communion hath light with darkness? And it also says do not participate in things that edify not. So I would say if you are truly a Christian you would not. There are many good family movies and even Christian ones you could watch instead.

That is like asking if someone in any other religion should let their kids watch The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
At most, it would make the child think, and ask questions. Since when is that a bad thing?
