What is Islam?
The name of the religion is Islam, which comes from an Arabic root word meaning "peace" and "submission." Islam teaches that one can only find peace in one's life by submitting to Almighty God (Allah) in heart, soul and deed. The same Arabic root word gives us "Salaam alaykum," ("Peace be with you"), the universal Muslim greeting.

Who is a Muslim?
A person who believes in and consciously follows Islam is called a Muslim, also from the same root word. So, the religion is called Islam, and a person who follows it is a Muslim.

How Many and Where?
Islam is a major world religion, with over 1 billion followers worldwide (1/5 of the world population). It is considered one of the Abrahamic, monotheistic faiths, along with Judaism and Christianity. Although usually associated with the Arabs of the Middle East, less than 10% of Muslims are in fact Arab. Muslims are found all over the world, of every nation, color and race. Muslim majorities are found throughout the Middle East, North Africa, East Asia and the Pacific Islands. Large numbers are also found in Western Europe, the former Soviet Union, and North America.

Who is Allah?
Allah is the proper name for Almighty God, and is often translated merely as "God." Allah has other names that are used to describe His characteristics: the Creator, the Sustainer, the Merciful, the Compassionate, the Judge, the Governor, the Eternal, etc. Allah is without beginning, without end, and He alone sees and knows all things. Allah is transcendent, yet close to mankind. "...He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever you may be. And Allah sees well all that you do" (Qur'an 57:4). Since Allah alone is the Creator, it is He alone that deserves our devout love and worship. Anything other than Him is simply His creation. "That is Allah, your Lord! There is no god but He, the Creator of all things; then worship Him, and He has power to dispose of all affairs. No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision; He is the Sublime, Well-Aware" (Qur'an 6:102-103). Islam holds to a strict monotheism - Allah has no partners and is not divided into a trinity. "Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute. He begets not, nor is He begotten, and there is none like unto Him" (Qur'an 112:1-4). Any worship and prayers directed at saints, prophets, other human beings or nature is considered idolatry.

Don’t be friends with the Christians or Jews or you will be viewed as one of them. 5:51 The worst enemies of the believers are the Jews and the idol worshipers. 5:82 Abraham warned us that Muslims and non-Muslims will be hate-filled enemies forever unless the unbelievers convert to Islam. According to the Quran, this is “good advice” from Abraham. 60:4 According to the Quran, it only looked as if Jesus was crucified but this was only an illusion (4:157). Allah allowed Christianity to spread and grow for 600 years before revealing that millions have been deceived and will go to hell. The Quran preaches against the Christian’s Trinity doctrine. It claims that some people say that Allah is “one of three” gods (5:73). Later, in the same chapter, it tells us not to add Jesus and his mother (Mary) to Allah (5:116). The Quran also says that “Allah is one” and has “neither wife nor son” (72:2-3). The Holy Spirit, according to the Quran, is simply a “helper” sent by Allah to assist Jesus (5:110), Mary (21:91) and other prophets (16:102). Mary-worshipers lived in Arabia around the time of Muhammad. Had the Quran been man-made, we would expect to see the use of near-sighted, locally-available information. Allah, in His infinite wisdom, didn’t foresee another doctrine greatly surpassing the “Father, Mother, Son” belief. This lick of foresight leaves the Quran looking very antiquated.

There are many different denominations of Islam, around 75 types. There are only two holidays, Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adiya. eid ul Fitr is the celebration after The month of fasting called Ramadhan. Healthy adults who are not traveling or sick or too old abstain from food, drink violence, anger and conjugal relations from dawn to dusk. Eid ul Adiya is the celebration of the story of Abraham and the dream of how he thought he was asked to sacrifice his son Ishmael. An angel told him he only needed to sacrifice a goat. So on Eid ul Adiya we buy meat and give a third to the poor, a third to friends and a third for yourself and have a feast.
Islam is in about 200 countries and the sect of Islam i am in is about 178. The most muslims are in Indonesia. African countries are also mostly muslim, mostly north, west and east african countries. Ofcourse the middle east is a place of Islam though the terrorists are very misguided. USA has Islam as the fastest growing religion and Europe is also, especially England. The leaders are Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and for my sect the messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. We believe in all the prophets including Jesus, Noah, John, Adam etc. Thats pretty much the main points. Any specific questions, you can contact me.
