So... I'm going to a dance and my boyfriend has asked me if he can pick me up. My dilema is that I don't think I'd feel comfortable with it. So, how can I polietly refuse and just meet him there? I don't want to sound like "Why would I go with you?!"... HELP!

No, It's not that I don't like him, I'm in love with him--- it's just that he doesn't have a driver's license yet--- only a permit, so his mom would have to come too.

You are pretty crude. If you don't want to date the guy, just tell him. I am sure he can find another girl.
* Now the truth comes out... No license???

Hmmm...you don't really offer enough information about how you would get to the dance/party alternately, if he doesn't pick you up. If you have a driver's license, and will be driving yourself, then invite him with you. Tell him that you think it'd be much more fun if it were a night for the two of you, and if you drive, you'll be able to enjoy the night more with him.

Or alternately, if your mother were to drive you and his mother were to ride with him, I think it's rather silly of you to refuse the ride with him.

here is what you do. tell him the truth that you don't feel comfortable riding in a car w/ someone that doesn't have a license. he will know that you are being honest. and honesty would probably build up yalls relationship. just remember that honesty is the best policy. that is true.

are you concerned for your safety or just embarrassed to be in a car with your b/f and his MOM?

Either way, dont' be afraid to make up an excuse. If you're "honest" you'll just hurt his feelings. Tell him you'll meet him there because your mom wants to take you somewhere first, alone.

Theres nothing wrong with going with his mom and him...if you really like him, then you should want to get to know his mom...

But if you dont want to go, then thats your choice...so just tell him simply i think ill just meet you there ...

OR you could tell him the truth...I dont feel comfortable going with your mom with us...

hope that helps chicka...lots of love, chai...

This is a tough one, because you're embarassed that your boyfriend isn't old enough to drive yet - probably a common situation at your age. If he found out, would he think that you're embarassed by him? Would it be worth finding out to save yourself embarassment?

I don't think there's any other way but to be frank about it. Like this: "I'm very sorry, but I can't accept your offer to give me a ride- let's walk together instead!"

If you're in love with him, you should respect him enough to be straightforward with him. Not in a rude way, of course, but in an honest way. If you love him enough to be with him, love him enough to show him respect by not lying to him.

Best Regards,
Holly

You'll make him feel terrible!! Allow he and his mother to pick you up. Meeting him there is rude and insensitive, it's HIS evening, too, not just yours
