I would rather clean up after a small dog than a large dog. Oh the poop!! I would rather cuddle with a small dog than a large dog. I would rather have a small dog bite me than a big dog. I have never heard of a small dog killing anyone. I feel very sorry for you and your attitude!

I completely disagree. In fact, I would recommend doing more research on dogs. Dogs (whether big or small) are only as stupid as the owner lets them get. How "smart" a dog is as well as how much or little they bark depends on how much or well an owner trains the dog. They are NOT at all useless! They are great companions and very loving/loveable. Especially for people that dont want a roomate but dont want to live alone. MOST apartments will not take a larger dog due to the fact that many of them tend to cause problems in things such as an apartment and things like that. Plus, there isn't as much to clean up after! Thats a bonus right there!

A statement like that doesn't say too much for you. It's like saying you hate short people.
I don't know how many dogs of any size you have been around, but I have a news flash for you, my dear!! Large dogs can also bark too much. You can trip over a large dog that gets in your way and break your leg when you fall. You mention dumb, stupid and useless in describing small dogs. Did a small dog bite you or something to make you this bitter?
THIS IS TOO FUNNY...THE PERSON THAT ASKED THIS QUESTION AND THE PEOPLE THAT AGREED WITH HER ON THE FACT YOU THINK SMALL DOGS ARE DUMB, STUPID, ETC. ALL HAVE WORDS SPELLED INCORRECTLY.......

How could any one hate such a thing? They are NOT stupid or useless! They can be VERY smart! How would you like to hold a Saint Brenard or Great Dane in your lap? And for the barking you just have to train it.Little dogs can also be a comfort. If you lost a family member or loved one just holding or cuddling a little dog can be a comfort. I know. I've had experience. It's kind of like there staying a puppy forever also. I've looked forward most of my life to getting a little dog.I hope some day you change your mind.

Friendly Hello,
Well, I am not fond of small breeds my self but I do not hate them. It is just a personal choice of likeing much larger breeds of dogs. Some families perfer the small little ancle bitters to the large breed as they may not have suffciant room for a large dog. But like the comforts of having a family pet. Ya, you can nearly step on them. But sometimes you can nearly fall over a large dog to. I have seen some pretty dumb large dogs. So I think calling in general small dogs being so dumb. Well, that may be so with some but many are very smart. There are people out there that put so much time into these little dogs and have some very smart dogs. Well, as far as barking. All dogs do it. Blessings, Kelly

The size of a dog has nothing whatsoever to do with its intelligence. It is certainly true that if you step on a small dog, you could kill it, and the same is true of an infant baby. So does that make them worthless?
I have had small dogs that bark and small dogs that don't bark. And I've had big dogs that bark. My little dogs are the greatest snugglers and there is still plenty of bed left for me.

I am a "big dog" fan but let's be objective for once! Small dogs are not dumber than the biggers...
I agree it is easy to say that they are. First, they bark a lot, they bite easily, they are nervous and anxious about everything. You're right about that.
But for two soooooo simple reasons, if everybody was using common sense you wouldn't think like you do for now. Small dogs are not treated like dogs. They are treated like little humans. But they don't think like us. They're leaded by INSTINCT so they don't learn to react like we (big dog lovers) expect them to (being dogs). Like kids, they get wayyyy too spoiled and overprotected. And like kids, when they grow up they become some kinda monsters that don't know how to deal with life's issues. Humans beome depressive, they kill, use drugs, blablabla. Dogs bark, bite and bark again.
Don't forget also that most "breeders" don't make sure to pick good reproducers with perfect temper. Of course if both the male and female parents are nervous and anxious, you have BIG chances that the puppies are going to be the same (or worse).
I noticed that most of the time, when I hate a dog's behavior, I mostly hate the way the master is as much. When you hate the way a dog is, you hate the way his master taught him to be.

Who's the dumb one if you're stepping on dogs? A police officer told me that small dogs were great watch dogs because they're very alert to their space - my Pomeranian stopped someone from coming in a window because he started barking. I'd rather listen to him yap in my home than some horse dog bellowing his lungs out outside (& they always live outside) keeping the whole neighborhood up.

I have a Jack Russell mix. He doesn't bark much (that's trained behavior) and he's pretty quick getting out of the way (years of being tripped over). He's spastic and fun and when he passes on, I'll probably get another one....or two....depends on the small dog. I would NOT own a dachshund or a Chihauau. He's pretty smart too.....

I admire small dogs!
Most small dogs don't think they are small at all. That could be why they bark- just trying to get some respect. Don't let their frilly hairdos fool you, several small breeds are smart as a whip.
