I've never had stones, but it doesn't eject bile due to hormones (estrogen) causing it to slow down. I've waited a year to have the surgery and have finally given in. I've heard you can eat anything and then some people have diareah really badly.

For the first 24 hours or so, expect to feel a bit gassy. They inject the abdominal cavity with air to work easier. You'll also have to go to bathroom a lot because they pump you full of fluid, too. :0 I had four different incision cites that they "taped" together. Post op care was easy, though I could not comfortably stand up straight for about a week. Make sure that you do not get the incision areas wet, and when you do take a shower, just pat dry. As for food, really greasy foods might not agree with you anymore because the gall bladder emits an enzyme that helps break the grease down. Best food you could eat for the first week is jello with cool whip and soups - I lived on it for awhile! Good luck and don't worry about it.

Every one reacts differently after the surgery. When I had it done I was nineteen and had a baby less than 4 months before the surgery. When I woke up from the surgery I was weak and tired.About two hours after the surgery the anesthesia had wore off. The gave me water and made sure i was able to use the bathroom before they discharged me. They gave me Percocet and I went home and the next day I was back at work. The only incision that hurted was the one in by belly button when I would laugh. The surgery is about thirty five minutes long. Don't worry you'll be fine. It's a fairly fast and simple surgery so be calm. Have faith and Good Luck.

Hi, Ive had Laproscopic surgery a few years ago on my gall bladder as well. I had stones. You can expect some moderate pain for a few weeks after the surgery...I know that whenever i laughed it hurt the most. The doc gave me Vicodin....It Defiantly helped out alot. Just be carfull its addictive!! haha. well anyway, The surgery itself wont be that bad, they put you under anesthesia and before you know it your awake again...just without your gall bladder...You will be okay, its a very common surgery, but if you have any questions I would advise asking you Doc. Take care and good luck.

With no gall bladder, eating fatty foods does cause diarrhea. Tell you doctor if this is a problem. There is a little pill that takes care of that problem. The surgery isn't bad. You will be fine.

Expect to have pain at the site, a lack of appetite, general weakness and feeling tired all the time. Likely they will give you a good amount of pain medicine that will put you out for a few days. You should expect to be away from work for at least a week.

The pain feels like someone took a rake and cut your whole chest up. The muscles in your stomach are so sore it is hard to move. the sleeping gas will settle in your shoulders and hurt like hell.
You really do have to watch what you eat. For me I cannot eat anything with tomatoes. I do get diarrhea more often than I used to.
