I want to dye my hair, then high-light it, but the thing is, what is the best brands, you know the less-damaging, more natural color dye? I want the base to be like a jennifer aniston color, with the high lights about 2(+) shades lighter.........Thanks so much for your time!!!!!!

I know that you want to save some money, but I really recommend going to a stylist for this one. In the long run it'll save you a lot of (potential) grief and trouble. Box color is notorious for not coming out the color you're trying to achieve. Also, if something goes wrong, or you realize that you really don't like it, a stylist can correct it.

As for the damage, all color damages your hair. However they make some GREAT treatments that are generally inexpensive (in the grand scheme of things) that you can get.

If you do decide to do color from a box, make sure that what you're using doesn't contain metallic dyes or henna, because both of those can cause major problems when trying to use other things later on.

Good luck!

Well, I usually don't reccomend store bought dyes, but my absolute favorite is L'oreal Color Expert. It's $20, but it gives great results, about the best you can get with at home color. Otherwise, go to a salon and get it done. The best results are done by people that really know what they're doing.

I have talked to several beauticians about home coloring and even from past experience, I do not recommend doing it from a store bought dye. If you have a particular color in mind, you can never be sure that is what you will get when doing it yourself. You are better off paying the price and having it done professionally.

my hairstylists-uses nautiristics hair color by Clairol , red ken , garnier and large stock of hair colors
But naturistics is the best long lasting permanent hair color and feiria has the best highlighting products .
i like Jennifer Annis ton's hair , but me being african american my color has a chocolate base by red ken i can't remember the color number and a number 71 highlight by Garnier at home highlight kit. I use to just be a blah dark auburn but i wanted a change so i let my hairstylist do my colors cus back in 2000 i colored and highlighted my hair and lets just say i had to go Halle Berry short and its 2006 an its finally a long bob length . don't get me wrong i loved my short hair style , but my hair was shoulder length so u no i was devastated back in 2000...but i got through the pain ...lol.. so let your hairstylist or a friend whom knows how to highlight experienced OK don't do it ya self ..besides my highlights and color only cost me 50dollars but my Hispanic friend hers costed nearly 160 dollars . but different races have different hair textures and of course depending on the stylist it will cost a lot

L'oreal has a product that does the base hair color then puts the highlighting creme in there too. It is what I use on my hair. They even have a website to help you find the color that is right for you. Just don't leave the highlighting creme on to long or it will damage your hair.

try loreal color something. you can dye and get highlighting at the same time. but for all over color feria is the best. it doesn't smell that bad that it'll burn your nose off. but to be on the safe end i say do an all over color yourself and then go to a stylist to do highlights. that way you save money and it looks good.

I just recently died my hair this week... I used REVLON, it's pretty cheap like 3-5 sollars a box. It works really good for that kind of price. the highlighting will of course be more expensive if you want them to turn out good (like 15 dollars and up)

I would say to be EXTREMELY careful when it comes to hair dye. I think its best to go with non chemical methods(never tried it) But your best best is to go to a salon and get a professional to do your hair. But be careful those chemicals can make your hair fall out.
