I always have the feeling I should convert to Roman Catholicism or Eastern Orthodoxy. Why?

It is your spirit. Mind and spirit are seperate things. What you beleive in your mind is one thing. What your spirit longs for and needs is God. Feel like something is missing? It is! And your spirit knows this. That is is the pulling of God. He wants you as you have been selected to belong to him. He chooses. He has chosen YOU. Your spirit knows this. No matter what has happened in your life to make you believe there is no God. Your spirit knows what you need. We all need this. We all need God. When I think of where I would be in my life with out God! I have done some things that I am not proud of. If I did not receive forgiveness, and know that all my sins are forgiven and that God has given me a new beginning -- I would be dead. I feel dead inside when I ignore my spiritual needs. When I go and try to do things on my own. As far as you selecting a religion that you feel you need to go to. That is not for me to say. I believe God will gather his people from every religion. It is not so much the religion, as it is the relationship you have with God. It is your heart, your soul, your spirit! Follow your spirit - give it a chance. See what happens. Don't be so set in what you think is right or wrong. Give God a chance to prove to you that he is the way, and your Spirit will be at peace - it will finally be at home!

Very deep question and you will liekly get a dozen different (correct) answers. I would guess by saying that you were raised in a family that was religious or had religious leanings. If not that then I would say because you have been most exposed to those religions throughout your life.

If you mean why do you feel you should believe in religion at all, then you're asking one of the most ancient questions. Most people think all people need some belief in something, that it is one of the things that keeps us going through the hard times. I look forward to seeing what others have answered.

I believe that when you are one of God's, He will call you when it's time. For me, I believed in God as an entity but did not know Him nor Jesus. I didn't give it thought either way; I just did my thing. I was always nice so I didn't think that I had much to be concerned about.

Then God started calling me.. quietly; sometimes I'd get a feeling like I should be doing something; sometimes in the back of my mind. I ignored it. Then I started to have problems - not necessarily because I didn't run to church. However, my problems (anxiety untreated that eventually led to a sever depression); caused me to start to re-evaluate me. This is when I started turning to God for direction.

He helped me and is always here for me.

Good Luck & God Bless!

... and Miss Vicky is right, it's the Holy Spirit that you're feeling.

It is okay to question this existance. The reason you have this deep feeling is because there is a God. Keep asking questions and searching, pick and study multiple religions to come up with your most objective perspectives. The reason you have this deep feeling is because the feeling is real, God is quiet but will let you know if you keep searching, always keep searching. Right or wrong its the only way to become wiser.

Did you grow up with religion or in a country with religion? Chances are you did, so you feel a psychological attachment for "belonging" or to reconcile with these norms. Also the fact that having a god just love you and what not is psychologically soothing. Think about it. Why is it that you don't feel like being a mormon or a muslim? Chances are because you didn't grow up in Utah, Palestine, or around people with those influences.

Dear KC, I belive its because God has given his inner light to every man. First he has given us the creation, this creation has Gods fiungerprints all over it. we can se his detailled handy works and touch his handy work. Comon sense tells us that a great explosion could by no means cause apples trees sunsets the many variety of distinct animals and humas made more detailled than any other thing on this earth. Secondly he has given you a Conscience, Gopd has written His Moral Law (Ten Commandments on your heart, fro example, have you ever lied? ever stolen something? ever looked with lust? ever used Gods name in vain? ever hated someone? The BIBle says if you have done these things you have brken five of the Ten Commandments, and by your own admission your a lying theiving adulturer blasphemer and murderer at heart. you knew it was wrong to do these things because God gave you a conscience, the BIble says because he has givwen you a conscinece you will be without excuse on Judgement day when you stand before him and are Judged by these commandments. The Ible says the penalty for your sin is death and Hell. But Jesus christ suffered and died on the cross for your sins to pay the penalty on your behalf. you broke the Law and Jesus paid your fine. And KC, if you will repent (apoligize and turn from your sin) and put your full faith and trust in Jesus, God will forgive you and grant you the gift of everlasting life. God will also cleanse your conscience and you will desire to serve him out of Gratitude for his great Love.
Kc, I care deeply for you, please promiuse me that before you lay your head down tonight, you wil give serius thought to these things. There is nothing more important than your eternal salvation.

God Bless
WDJD

Ignore the 'its the spirit of blah blah blah blah blah' calling you. Trust me, i'm a christian and god has NEVER done some magical thing to call me to him. I believe in god, but he would want you to believe in him because of yourself, not some feeling he gives you.
Probably what you are feeling is called 'Human Nature'. All humans, feel the need for a higher power and a need to be controlled somehow. This is a good thing as governments came out of it so we're not all chaosy but it causes you to want to believe in something. Atheists however, do not believe in anything because they choose to ignore it. Its up to you what you want to do, but think carefully because religion can really effect you. In good ways or bad

Well you dont have to believe in "god" to believe in something. you can believe there is a higher power that you are a part of without calling it god. you can call it whatever you want. i was once an aethiest myself. i was convinced there was no god. but i read a few books about Buddism and Paganism and realized there is alot more out there to believe in than the everyday Jesus Christ. I think everyone needs something to believe in. I personally believe that we are all connected and that we are all a part of something greater than ourselves that we cannot see but feel : )

Everyone has a God shaped hole in their hearts. Letting God into your heart fills that hole. Do it , Man, You'll feel a whole lot better and will always have someone to talk to when nobody else cares.
