I know, and have heard of, many people that say that atheists are "Devil Worshippers", in other words DEFAMATION!
We live in a civilized world, whith FREEDOM of religion, therefore I think that if I'm acused of being something (D. Worshipper) that I am clearly NOT (not even believe it exists) I think two things:
A) If the person that acuses me says that not believing in God is believing in the Devil, he is clearly suposing that i do not have a choice, and therefore is disregarding Human Rights an National Law
B) NEEDLESS to say, that person is clearly defamating me
C) That person is a fanatic, or a disrespectful person
Conclusion: I do not believe in hell so, if you call me Satanist, the first thing I should do is call a LAWYER

Vanamont7: Sorry if I gave a false impression. I called a rethorical lawyer because saying that Catholics calling me Satanist is Criminal is wrong, and stating it should be woulv've been seen as politically loaded, which I do not want

Irish Eyes: The majority of people that I know that are into animal rights and environmentalism are sweet hearted christians, the kind that respects atheism. You evaded my Question. Everyoneso far has!

I want a serious answer from someone with a legal backround. It is desamation, it isn´t?

Hillbilly:

Mick.Tripp: from wikipedia:
"Religion is a system of social coherence based on a common group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object, person, unseen being, or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. It is sometimes used interchangeably with "faith" or "belief system"[1], but is more socially defined than that of personal convictions"
Atheists are a group waaay tot eclectic to be a religion, and its not organized

It's possible that calling you a devil worshipper could be considered defamation of character, but you must prove that your character was damaged by the remarks. Proving damage to your reputation is a tough task.

Good luck.

You need only believe in what you wish. You need to have the will power to resist others influences. People have this habit of trying to make you believe in what they believe. If you have an interest in something, then find out about it by reading. Then it will only be yuor own influence. For example. Look at http://supernatural.hammocksurvivalguide.com/
It hasd articles about the supernatural.
I must add that I am not that much into that but it is a option, like everything else.

It's up to you. You're gonna believe in something whether you think you want to or not. Personally, wading through all this ink, and, given the times, it's not an issue with me or anyone else what you believe. Doesn't matter one iota of difference. Your reasoning I'm not even going to touch. Call a lawyer and pay his laundry bill. The judge will probably throw you out as a fanatic. You'll probably yell at him ( apparently, yes you will ) then he'll cite for contempt. Cool your jets man. You're baiting. The world at large doesn't care about you OR what you think. Copy?

I have to agree with you, some of the answers above are a perfect example of what you have stated. "If you don't believe in something, you fall for anything", and the one that tried to annoy you by saying atheism is a religion- OF COURSE IT IS -it's a set of beliefs like any other, it's just more focussed on development rather than stagnation.

Well there is a fair to middling chance that we (humans) created us..

If we as humans - can create a big bang - through technology - , then there is a strong possibility that we created us and we are the direct result of human technology and science.

Man big Bang...Man (us)Big Bang...Man Big Bang.
The evidence is everywhere in the form of human science and all the technological achievements over the last 100 year..

There is no doubt that we will be able to create a Big bang in the future...we are even worried about it now.

It has been said that those who don't believe in God will believe in almost anything else. That's why godless people get so wrapped up in animal rights, environmentalism, socialism and hatred of those who do believe in God - these activities ARE there religion.
