I'm using a quote from a person in an essay introduction. How do I quote it? Use the following for an example...
"I am a very very smart kid."
Person who said it: John Smith

John Smith once said, "I'm a very very smart kid."

End there. Just remember quotes and that's it...it's simple!

Is it from a book. Well, I don't know how to work with your example, but I can give you an example of my own.
Ex. The tree leaves were turning brown and yellow.
It was said by: John Doe from the novel Blah Blah on page 23.
Quote: In the novel, John Doe discusses the leaves changing colors by saying, "The tree leaves were turning brown and yellow(23)"
I think you might have to put the author's last name if it's from a book.
Ex. "The tree leaves were turning brown and yellow (Doe 23)"

To make sure you should ask your English teacher(that is, if your still in grade school).

if you took that quote from a website use sub script "....." 1 If you took that quote from a book use page numbers "...." (#) If you took that from somewhere else use name "...." (Anne Frank)

"I am a very very smart kid." (John Smith, year) is a publishing way to quote. Then you cite him in your bibliography.

Put an asterisk next to it and then put a foot note on the bottom of the page giving credit and your source

well if it is a book you say I am....Kid (john smith {page #})

or if another source you say I am...Kid (john smith)

and you just put all the citation in your works cited page
