If you out with a guy/gal and they have bad breath, what do YOU do?

I went out w/ this guy yesterday for the first time, and his breath was kicking like Bruce Lee. I made up an excuse and left.

i think its better to let them know, you can ask "uh what was the last thing you ate? was it _____?" they will take the hint.

1. There could be a number of reasons for the bad breath (i.e. eating bloody meat, smoking, coffee, dental problems, dry mouth, health problems, post-nasal drip, or what he ate previous to seeing you).

2. You always want to be polite, so tell him privately that you like him, and are concerned that his breath is very strong. Describe it to him, and ask if he ate something that would be doing that? Emphasize seeing a dentist.

3. He may be totally unaware of it, or is and doesn't know what to do about it. But opening the discussion is helping him, whether or not you decide to continue seeing him.

4. It may upset him, but reassure him that you have his best interest at heart.

Good Luck and Warm Wishes.

Food always smells better than their own stench. Get them to eat or drink something that smells a lot better than their breath. If that doesn't work....I know there are companies named something like "Escape a Date" where a company calls you at a previously set time during a date to see how things are going. If its going well they tell you to respond with a specific response. If bad, they talk you through an escape. They tell you exactly what to say and how to get out of it. GOOD LUCK!!

You did good.
However, if you liked him, or just wanted the meal he was going to buy you, maybe you should invest in some breath mints and carry in your purse!
Leave him after the dessert.

Does this hold true if the woman is the one with the bad breath?? Or do the ladies make excuses for her?

You should let them know that they have some nasty breath, so they don't make the same mistake on the next date. Some people don't realize they have bad breath as other people won't really let them know, so you are doing them a good service by telling them, though it may not seem like it to them!

Be discreet and offer them a mint or a piece of gum.
If they don't take it then chew a piece of gum yourself. At least that way, you'll be able to block the bad breath with your own fresh smelling breath:)

Theirs onion breath and then theirs nuclear sewage waste, you made the right call.
I would have, and have done exactly that bolt in the middle of the date.
Its even more horrible when you can't get away from that person like a work mate.

I casually take out a stick of STRONG gum [strong being the operative word] and put it in my mouth. Then I look over and say, "Oh, I'm sorry, would you like some gum?" Most of the time they'll say "sure" if not, just say "Are you sure you wouldn't like some gum?" If he can't pick up the hint by THEN then he's a renard!

Make a comment like "My mouth tastes so yucky after that chicken I ate" (or along that line somehow)Take out some gum. Put one in your mouth first. Offer one to him. 99% chance he will say yes.. and then the stink will be gone.

If my date had bad breath I would politely say, Why don't we stop & get a refreshing drink as I think your throat must be dry. He would probably remark, how do you know & I would say , it's evident.
