HCG - Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. A hormone that is secreted by the human embryo. It stimulates the production of estrogen and progesterone. This is the hormone that is tested for in urine based home pregnancy tests..
The dog would need a test for CCG..canine chorionic gonadotropin. The human test won't work..
As for the strange, strong smell, it may be indicative of an infection..She should see a vet soon..

Our dog had a very strong odor too and it made no difference how often I bathed her-she still smelled awful. We thoght it was because she went swimming in the river we live on so we kept her out of the river but it made no difference. I then read that giving a dog vitamins can sometimes help. I thought it was worth a try and started her on a brewers yeast/omega fatty acid vitamin pill-not expensive either. It is truly a miracle because her smell is now gone. I asked the vet if she had ever heard of this and she said the omega fatty acids can change the oils on the dogs skin and coat. It worked for us like a charm. I actually don't cringe when she comes close anymore. Best of luck.

Ear infections will cause your pet to really stink. My mom has a dog that smells all the time and its because of her ears. Maybe you should go to the vet. ANY bad smell on a dog is a sign of something being wrong.

This will sound strange but I had a similar problem with my dog - he smelled bad, so I gave him a bath, then a day later he smelled bad again. I took him to the vet and nothing was wrong. Then I FINALLY figured it out. I caught him in the backyard rolling in some fragrant poo poo. Could this be your dog's issue?
Good luck!

If the dog has an ear infection, That really causes the dog to smell and no bathing will get rid of it. Lift up his ears and smell it. See a vet

FOOD! If her food smells, then so will she. Buy her better quality food (more expensive) or feed her a good protion of table food, fresh, not leftovers and old stuff. Check w/ your vet for special diet needs. Then get some Burt's Bee's dog breath drops. Your dog will smell like whatever you feed her. If her food ingrdnts say fish guts, cow's feet, and sheep blood, of course she will stink!

Is this something new?
Have you check where the smell coming from? Her mouth, body, or behind? Might be hair?
If it's her hair, it's where she visited.
If it's her behind, it need to be squeezed out.
If it's from her mouth, she might have an infection. or it's her food.
If it's on her body, it's what she eat.
and if you haven't changed her diet lately, it must be the hormone,
ask your vet for recommendation diet for during pregnancy!
In any case, don't give her bath too offten, it can over dry her skin, and as a poodle, it might increase her chance to catch cold.

Her anal glands might need to be emptied by the vet. They can make a dog smell really bad.
