Two to three drinks a day is considered drinking alcoholically by most doctors and the AA. This question prompted so poor responses. I'm not sure what a unit is, but if a unit equals a 12 oz. beer, or 4 ounces of wine or one ounce of distilled spirits the person who answered is either an alky, or an alky in training. The other sport who claims to go through 1.75 liters of tequila every five days is probably lying, or gets drunk and spills half, but if he does go through 1.75 L of Cuevo in 5, he is an alcoholic and his liver is about to become shoe leather. The person who said the liver would repair itself is incorrect--once the liver is shot it's shot, but a person can live on a smaller piece of liver. Lastly, excessive and irresponsible use of alcohol damages every organ in the body, especially your heart and liver. There is no such thing as a heavy drinker or a problem drinker, because they are alcoholic and will eventually live to see their lives turn to sh_t and die at a relatively young age.

The recommended intake for alcohol is 1 to 3 standard drinks per day, depending on your weight. For an average adult (male or female) its about 1-3 (standard) bottles of beer 1-3 (standard) glasses of wine and 1-3 (30ml or 1 oz) of Spirit. Hope this helps.

Depends on the individual, but remember all alcohol has to pass through your body, a liver in time can repair itself, kidneys cannot. All alcohol kills brain cells that in time might get replaced. But that does not mean a drink in moderation is not good for you.

Any amount is too much! - if people could only see themselves when they're rolling about the ground they would think twice about getting in a drunken state. You don't have to consume alco to have a good time. (Look what happened to George Best, the footballer.)

2 questions for the price of one.
1)....Can you stand up, then you're ok, carry on.
2)....5 bottle of wine, really calmed down from my unsustainable younger days, when it was 5 pints and a couple of chases a night ( well what else was there to do at university ?)
