A semicolon is used at the end of a complete thought, and the beginning of the end of an incomplete sentence which goes with the complete thought; I think, LOL

When you are separating two complete sentences. Can be used in place of a period.

when you have two ideas that can go into a senteence btu you dont want to use a period and start a new sentence.
remember you also have to use a conjunction most of the time
