How can I teach someone who doesn't have a musical hearing to sing in the correct tones?

Sing with them, use a piano or other thing to generate a note WHILE you sing. Tell them to try and match the note (make sure they're breathing from their diaphragm). Tell them to go higher or lower when they're off. Let them know when they get it. Be very patient. Teach them a do-re-mi scale. Then move on to simple songs. Honestly I think people can learn unless they get psyched out.
