My final destination ist New Orleans. But, I'm really interested in the Cajun culture. Would Houma be a good place to experience authentic Cajun life?

I've never been to Houma, Louisiana. New Orleans is as far south as we have travelled. Looks like plenty of wetlands there on the Gulf.
