Right now my bedroom walls are white. It's very boring. The bedroom itself is not real big and the carpet is cream. I have a maroon bedspread that I use in winter, and a cream one in the summer. Other than that, there is no other color to worry about matching. I want something soothing and calm, yet interesting to look at. The doors (including closest) and door frames will stay white. It's an open canvas!

I forgot to mention this...I am going for minimal cost...basically a couple of gallons of paint and that's it. So, no new bedspreads or other accessories. Also, right now I have semi-sheer curtains up that are a charcoal brown. Those can be switched with some cream ones I have in another room if necessary...whichever matches my new color.

Have you thought to use lilac, its a calming color, that can be mixed with others, as the seasons change. You can also just do the largest wall, leaving the others the same. The use of Ting-Ting (Chinese tall/thin reeds) in the corner of the wall which is painted. I think greens such as plants real/artificial do wonders.

first, a color you like, a color that will make you happy to look at; probably not something too bright or dramatic if you are trying to be relaxing. a nice lemon yellow, or olive green. maybe some kind of terracotta or clay, or even a variation on maroon to match your bedspread. good luck!

Sage green is a warm, soothing color that will compliment your bedspreads and curtains. The white trim will give the room a clean look and add a splash of color to your bed with pillows using your color pallet.

Blues or greens are your best bet. There have actually been studies done on how colors make people react. Blues are considered soothing (and they suppress your appetite - bonus!). Greens are also calming, which is why they're often used in hospitals.

Go to your favorite bedding store. Take a look at the bedspreads there. Pick one out that has a pattern or multiple colors and treat yourself. Look at the colors in it. If the colors are in a fabric than chances are they will work for painting and decor. Pick the color that seems most restful to you and paint the walls that color. Than look at the rest of the colors in the bedspread. Those are the colors you can use to pick out your accessories in - whether the accessories are colors of frames for the pictures you want to display or some solid color sheets to put on the bed under the bedspread, or to help inspire you to choose the artwork you'd like to hang in the room. If you're still not sure... I'd go to HGTV and look at episodes that show bedrooms and see what kind of things designers and decorators have done lately. Remember, paint is just paint. It is easy to change if you choose wrong. Have fun with it, go little bit more bold than you usually would. A nice tan or taupe, by the way, always goes well with both white, cream and burgandy. An area rug can help bring some color to the floor.

Well, you might consider the two spreads and what colors would compliement them. I would go to the paint store and take a look at the Baer line of paint chips. They have nice examples of different shades of color together.

brown, black & white would look fine. Brown is generally a neutral color, so just about any color will coordinate well with it.

I rag-rolled my room with a dark blue. It's very soothing for me, it's almost as if I'm living in a storm cloud. :D
