I consider myself one of Jehovah's witnesses..as I worship the god of the "burning bush", the creator of all, and the heavenly Father of Jesus Christ ! This may surprise some who are convinced they are the "true believers". It does'nt bother me, I can live without the Watchtower doing my thinking for me. I have a NWT. I read at Isiah 9:6...."his name will be called....Mighty God, Eternal Father....." Also John 20: 28, "....Thomas said to him: My Lord and my God". See also Isiah 43: 10......"Before me there was no God formed......and after me there continued to be none". That is Jesus being refered to!
That is 3 scriptures from the NWT, "out of the mouths of 3 witnesses". My question is this.....are the JW's more interested in promoting one of God's names or really finding the "TRUTH", which they say they are in? "Awake"? Or wake up?

Papa Bear: So there were 6 million Jews killed by Hitler...Millions of people have been exterminated for various reasons. Does that mean they had a "true religion" ? A man who wont be convinced will not be convinced.

to Bonnifer: Did you carefully read my writing? I said I was one of Jehovah's witnessed (small w). I am reading all my replys and I see some pretty convoluted explanations from JW's. Interesting. I guess I hit some nerves. The Holy Spirit can only lead us to the truth. I just wanted to ask some ?'s and see what I would get. I have read the NWT and found what I found. Jehovah is not a God of confusion...which truthfully I am getting from JW's answers ......Jehovah is the Mighty God, Jesus was just a God.....etc. etc. etc. anything to prove the JW thesis and beliefs of the founder , was that Russle? oh well..........

To Wink Winkleman: You cant read, or should read more carefully...I said I was one of Jehovah's witnesses (small w) I am not taking the title of a Jehovah's Witness. And for about a hundred reasons , as many convoluted answers from JW's re: my query.. So complicated, so tricky? Some folks can watch a horse race and give you 20 reasons why the third place horse really was the winner! I hope the readers will read some of the many splendid answers from other than JW's.

Those in agreement with the "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" believe that the Scriptures quite plainly teach that Almighty Jehovah God the Father is a distinct person from Mighty Jesus Christ the Son. See below for a few Scriptures, none of which must be prefaced with the elaborate 'setup' every so-called 'trinity proof text' requires.

The "question" (if it can be called that) mentions just two Trinitarian arguments:

1. (John 20:28) Thomas said to [Jesus]: "My Lord and my God!"

It would have been quite appropriate for him to address Jesus with these titles, if that is what Thomas did. Jesus is certainly at least as deserving of the title "god" as those human judges that are mentioned at 1 Corinthians 8:5.

(John 1:18) No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is in the bosom position with the Father is the one that has explained him.

(1 Corinthians 8:5) There are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords,"

2. (Isaiah 43:10-11) Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. 11 I - I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.

We've already noted that the bible itself refers to multiple persons with the title "god", but of course Jehovah alone is an ALMIGHTY God without peer. Interestingly, this passage also says that Jehovah alone is a "savior", which must mean something like "unassisted savior" in light of these verses:

(Nehemiah 9:27) [Jehovah] would give them saviors who would save them out of the hand of their adversaries

(Judges 3:9) Jehovah raised a savior up for the sons of Israel that he might save them, Othniel the son of Kenaz

(Judges 3:15) Jehovah raised up for them a savior, Ehud the son of Gera

The question begins to mention the matter of "witnesses" which is one of the most confounding issues for Trinitarians. Jesus reminded certain Jewish troublemakers that the Jewish law required judges to accept the testimony of two distinct persons, but the word of just one testifyer was insufficient.

(Deuteronomy 19:15) At the mouth of two witnesses or at the mouth of three witnesses the matter should stand good. [See also Deut 17:6]

When the Pharisees tried to protest that Jesus' claim to be "the light of the world" must be rejected as the claim of a single person, Jesus reminded them that a distinct, separate person confirmed Jesus' own testimony:

(John 8:17-19) Also, in your own Law it is written, ‘The witness of two men is true.’ I am one that bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”

Clearly, such clear logic on Jesus' part would have been significantly muddied if Jesus himself were also claiming to be God. The Jews knew that Jesus never taught that he was God, but rather that Jesus was a separate and distinct person, the Son of God.

Here are a few Scriptures which clearly and without preamble establish Almighty Jehovah God the Father as a separate distinct person from Mighty Jesus Christ the Son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Jehovah Witnesses are a non-Christian cult.

What does the Organization and Watchtower Magazine teach that is in conflict with Christianity?

1. That Jesus is a created being/a creature.

2. That Jesus is actually Michael the Archangel

3. That Jesus was not resurrected bodily, but as a spirit being.

4. That Jesus returned invisibly in 1914 (secretly to the Organization)

5. That Jesus was only a man when on earth, not the Word Become flesh.

6. That the Holy Spirit is only an active force, not the person of God.

7. That Hell is simply the grave.

7. That Heaven's doors is open to only 144,000.

8. That the majority of Witnesses must remain on earth.

9. That salvation is found only through the Organization.

10. That it must be maintained by energetic works for the Organization until the end when one may merit eternal life on a paradise earth.

11. That Satan is the author of the doctrine of the Trinity.

12. That Jesus cannot be given worship, but only honor as Jehovah's first creation.

The Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe or teach some of the very basic tenets of Christian doctrine. They deny:

1. The Trinity.

2. The Omnipresence of God.

3. The Deity of Christ.

4. The dual nature of Christ.

5. The bodily resurrection of Christ.

6. The visible return of Christ.

7. The person of God the Holy Spirit.

8. The Promise of Heaven to all believers.

9. The necessity of the New Birth for all believers.

10. The Lord's Supper for all believers. (only for the 144,0000).

11. The Eternal Security of the believer.

12. The conscious Eternal Punishment of the lost.

How do you explain that Moses is God to Pharoah? Ex 7:1,

That the angel of Jehovah is called God at
Judges 13:21, 22.

Yes, Jesus is called Mighty God at Isa 9:6

The Judges of Israel are called gods at Ps 82:6

and each Hebrew word for God in these verses are Elohim.

So according to your line of reasoning, Moses, an angel, the judges of Israel, and Jesus must be Jehovah?

As to Jehovah being 'one of God's name' You better start re reading your bible.

Jehovah is the only name of God. all others are titles.

Lord, Ancient of Days, Elohim, El, Savior, etc are all titles not names.

The name of Jehovah appears in the bible more times that the titles Lord and God added together. You can even add the name of Jesus to this list and Jehovah is still used more times.

by the way I showed you two verses in your last question where Jesus used Jehovah's name in a bible other than the NWT.

In reference to Thomas, If the father of Samson can call an angel God, then Thomas can call Jesus God.

To get John's reason for writing his gospel read John 20: 31 just 2 verses later.

In Rev 3:12, Jesus refers to "his God"

In 1 Cor 11:3, Jehovah is above Jesus as Jesus is above man.

Paul at Romans 15:5,6, shows that the mental attitude of Jesus was to glorify his God and Father.

Peter agreed with Paul at 1 Pet 1:3

Jesus, Peter, Paul, and Let's not forget Jehovah
when He said "this is my Son, the beloved."

Testifying to Jehovah being Jesus' Father and God.

Jesus was a Mighty God, while Jehovah was an Almighty God, who creates and provides the power to mighty gods. So, what was your point?

They don't fear using God's name, like other Christians and Jews. They are not a cult, as that requires one person saying they are an authority, which they don't have Everyone is taught equally, including children.

Gadfly is right about what she says. There is a program about Himmler this week on the History Channel. It talks about how he targeted JWs because they refuse to pledge their allegiance to the nation, or support the war in any way, including working in the war industry.

What a mixed up person you are?

Only Jehovah is the ALMIGHTY God, (different than mighty god) The scripture in Isaiah is referring to Jehovah not Jesus.
You cannot be a true Witness of Jehovah/Yahweh if you don't recognise who he is. The Father of Jesus & a completely separate person to Jesus.
Jehovah's Witnesses are students & followers of God's word the bible.

The truth is that the JW's don't preach the whole truth. The 144,000 in revelation are not the only ones going to heaven, they are the chosen 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Judah, unfortunately, the founders of your cult didn't bother to read the entire scripture which is clear about who these 144,000 are. Jewish witnesses who spread the word of the Gospel to the remaining Jews in the end times. That along with a whole slew of other blasphemy is the problem with JW. ALL RELIGIONS ARE WRONG AND ONLY CHRIST IS RIGHT! Buy a real study bible and learn the truth and quit believing in religions that are created by men.

Russellites, You do error not knowing the Scriptures. Jesus said; He who hath seen me hath seen the Father." He also said; "I and the Father are One." Also He said; "Before Abraham was I AM." Like Jesus said also; "The blind leading the blind." You ought to be ashamed deceiving so many when the truth you have no excuse for not knowing.
