I'm so worried about drowning.

6/7. I let my young one have some time but i stay near by, i clean out his dresser or clean some of the upstairs and constantly do the "how ya doin?". I try to give him some privacy, but i worry too.

My daughter is almost 7 and I still don't let her. I leave her in there to soak and play, and I check on her, but I don't think she can do a good enough job on her hair. It's long, curly and thick. So even though she can do everything else by herself, I still wash and rinse her hair. But I know a lot of people let their kids take their own baths and wash their own hair by age 6 or 7.

I permit my 5 year previous play somewhat in the tub whilst he's accomplished and that i do no longer sit down there every time - yet i in basic terms fill is up approximately 5 inches and that's it, so i understand he's okay. i does no longer bypass away a infant on my own until they have been 4 and it does no longer be extra beneficial than for a minute or 2.

My 2 kids were between 4 and 5 when they were bathing themselves. I would be nearby just in case they needed help, but they let me know that they wanted to take care of themselves in the bath. Also, they didn't take baths - more like showers.

Depends on the child. My son started bathing himself at 5 years. I just checked him over really good. My 8 year old daughter still needs my help with her hair.

age is not important when you leave your child in the bath let them wash themselves and then you check that they are clean
keep yourself busy in the next room tidy something just to be real handy
at first dont let them climb in or out of the bath that is the time accidents happen

I think around 5 or 6 would be pretty safe. Even then, you should definitely check on them every so often b/c ya never know what could happen. But they have to learn to bathe themselves so they won't be dependent on you to do it for them.

my children were washing themselves by 4 and i left
them alone in the water at 6. that was me and my
kids. everyone is different. i worried more about
water splashed on the floor than i did about drowning
by those ages.

I was in the 4 th grade before my mom let me take a bath "all by myself". Without checking on me, or making me take a bath with my little sister.

Well, my kid was OK by 3-something. He'd draw his own bath, bathe, wash his hair and dry off by himself. We made him keep the door open for a year or so.

But then, it was something he really liked to do.
