I am sponsoring a little girl in Guatamala. She is misbehaving in school and not paying attention. Since it is a Catholic sponsorship, I wanted to mention to her to pray to this saint so that she does better in school.

Mother Cabrini, American Saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton, American Saint, ( I think both founded schools here for the poor), Don Bosco, and since she is from S.A. how about to Our Lady of Guadalupe? There is St. Teresa of Avila and St. Therese' the Little Flower whose prayer I shared with my dtr for school which is "Little Flower, show thy power in this hour". Kids can relate to St. Therese' because she was very young when she died although she is now considered a Doctor of the Church. Good luck, I will pray for her.

You would be better off to ask her to pray to God through His Son Jesus Christ. That is how we are told to pray in the bible, Jesus said I am the Way the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the father except by me! We are not called to pray to any made up saints or other wise they are not in the scriptures. Don't want to sound abrasive but that is the truth, I applaud your concern for the child.

I don't think she wants to do well in school. I think she is worried about other things. I wonder what they are. I wonder if she would tell you. Maybe you could keep telling her and showing her that God loves her.
