If you have had pets before, and have shown that you have taken good care of them, then you can point these out as examples of your responsibility.

Same is true about doing your homework and chores with out having to be constantly reminded. If you have been good at this for a long time, this, too, shows responsibility.

But if you've never had a pet before, a dog is a bad one to start with. Smaller, caged pets are much easier to care for. A dog requires a LOT of care, and don't respond well to being ignored. A hamster can live quite contentedly as long as it gets fed and watered regularly and its cage is keep clean. Dogs have a much bigger brain, and need distractions and attention. They NEED walking, and playing and shots and food.

And, if you are the type that needs to be reminded to do the homework and other chores, and leaves your room messed up, week to week, your parents will see that you will be the type to neglect the dog, too. They may see that they will have to take care of the dog themselves.

In other words, if you have not ALREADY proven that you are responsible, it is too late, for this dog. You would not be helping the dog by taking her in, only to neglect her. Just because she is not playful does not meant that she does not need to be played with.

Spend time with the dog you now have. Clean up after the dog, feed her and always make sure she has fresh water. If she needs a bath give her one. Don't forget she needs to be played with too for exercise and fun. Just let your parents see that you'll be there for your dogs and don't forget to take her for a walk daily. I'll bet if you do all of the above for this dog you have now she'll shower you with love unconditionally. This dog you have needs a lot of love and attention to see all humans aren't all bad.Your parents will be very proud of you and what they see will prove you will be a responsible pet owner. Good luck!! If your parents let you get another dog it would also be company for this dog when you are not home.Try to make a good match between the two!!

I don't quite understand. Do your parents not want to let you keep the dog?I

I'm a little worried when you say that isn't playful. It's possible that she could be injured or have have or been abused . Is she still a puppy or a full grown dog?How long have you had the dog?

I know my questions aren't really answering your questions, but I think you need to add more details. In the meantime, good luck trying to convince your parents :-)

Just prove to ur parents, that ur responsible, like do extra chores for the dog, if u really want one. Also, if that doesn't work, try to convince ur parents that ur dog is lonely, and u want u and ur dog to have a new playful friend. Good Luck!!

what i did was make a 6 month plan for how your going to pay for all the stuff (go to petsmart.com or petco.com for the stuff). then make a schedule that says when you will do your homework, and take care of the dog. finaly find out how much the dog is going to cost. i.e at my animal shelter, adopting a dog costs 67 dollars including shots and first year lisence. (i cant spell at the moment) present all of the information to your parents. hope it goes well!

Not really sure I understand your question. But the fact you love her shows you're prepared to spend time with her and give her the necessary attention to coax her round, as she has obviously had a tough time in the past. All I can say is if you show her as much attention and love as possible she will come round and that in itself will be a testament to your effort and hopefully show your parents that you are committed to looking after her.

Good Luck,
Caz xx

by taking care of the one you alreday have. volunteer at a local
shelter, or organization. even if your border collie isn't playful
there's other activities you can do with her. 4-h is a great place to
start.
other pet activities include: frisbee, flyball, agility, hiking, backpacking, obedience, comformation, freestyle obedience,
herding, lure coursing, field trials, grooming, pet sitting, and
the list goes on.

responsible.Firstly I dont understand what you mean .But proving this may mean many ways .You can do it in many ways .I don't know your parents very much so I can't say many things about that .Even I won't say nothing .You know your parents more than me how they are how they act.But if you like dogs and think you are responsible tell them this.
