can/do x-rays make you infertile? Example: you are having an xray of your foot and the xray technician does not cover you with the led covering and begins the x-ray. Will that cause infertility?

no, a one time exposure to xray is less radiation than you get from the average television set.
Those who are older and have been exposed many times, need the lead apron.

The danger of xrays has to do with a developing fetus that is already in there. That's why they have all the signs up saying to let them know if you are pregnant.

The radiation dosage for a single xray is small.

If you worked as an xray technician and didn't protect yourself, then you might have problems.

No, the reason they do not do xrays on pregnant women is b/c there has never been any studies (for obvious reasons) on x-rays of pregnant women. I thought I broke my toe/foot last month at 15 weeks pregnant and they would not do an x-ray and they gave this as the reason why

I pretty sure it could. It also depends on the strength of the machine, and accuracy of it. A plausibly explanation for why the tech. didn't cover you up was because the machine was not strong enough to do any damage. I know it can hurt your baby if you already have 1, then u go to get an x-ray. It really all depends on the machine.

Only if you work there and have plenty of exposure to the rays. A couple of X-rays a year are no problem.

repeted exposeure carries the risk of infertility. You don't need to worry about one x-ray, but if you were exposed to it all day every day there may be a problem
