Most of the people who leave school early will tell you they wish they wouldn't have. And it is obvious that those who go back for a GED do so for the education value, if only so they can get a better paying job.

I never went to college. I joined the Navy, and then married and had children. But I continue to learn every day, and will as long as I am alive. There is much more to learn than what you learn in school.

A higher educational institute may not be what you want. In today's world, however, it is almost required. There are very few jobs that do not require at least a couple of years in a junior college. Consider the type of job you are looking for, and the type of income you want. Then do what you have to do to achieve those goals. With the price of housing, food, clothing, gas etc, it is awful hard to live well on a paycheck from McDonalds.

Whether you realize it or not, you are learning things outside of school that they won't teach you. A degree from higher education is often cited as a means to get a better paying job. Actually, this is more true with a BS degree in Engineering, Business, IT or a science related field, and even with a degree, getting a high paying job to start out with is close to impossible. College is not for everyone. If you do decide to go, you should already have a plan for your major. If not, consider going to a technical or trade institution, or a community college. People often belittle these schools for no good reason. In fact, they are a good way to get a career-focused education, or a cheaper alternative to spending the first 2 years at a college/university.
Your best interest is to get your high school diploma/GED and then figure things out for yourself from there.

Why dont you ask yourself this, who will hire someone who leaves school after eighth grade? I dont think a person that young can be a wonderful mom or dad. Having kids at 12-13 years old is just wrong. they can probably be a wonderful employee as a janitor or some person making minimum wage, even then i cant figure out or know anyone who would hire a 12-13 person to work for them. Ask yourself this; If you were an employer, who would you hire? A guy who quit school without a high school education or a guy who went to college and graduated?

The higher you go in education the higher the chance for a higher paying job. Plus there are things that aren't taught in schools from K-12 that are taught in even the simplest of colleges.

The best way to learn is self-teaching and peer mentoring, and learning from your elders. But we live under the iron fist of a capitalist dictatorship, so that doesn't matter.
