A pumpkin is a squash fruit. Pumpkins grow as a gourd from a trailing vine of the genus Cucurbita Cucurbitaceae. Cultivated in North America, continental Europe, and some other countries, as well as in English cottage gardens, Cucurbita varieties include Curcurbita pepo, Cucurbita maxima, Cucurbita mixta, or Cucurbita moschata — all plants native to the Western hemisphere.

Botanically it is a fruit, referring to a certain plant part which grows from a flower. However it is widely regarded as a vegetable in culinary terms, referring to how it is eaten.

scientifically, Pumpkins are fruits; they are the reproductive structure of the plant; technically vegetables are the parts of the plants we eat that are not the fruiting body; however, most people don't think about that because in the botanical world, tomatoes are a fruit not a veggie (tomatoes are a member of the nightshade family as are potatoes & tobacco)

I really like both fruits and fruit and vegetables better, however they look and taste. You desire a little of both.

In the event that it's a fruit it includes seeds, otherwise it's a vegetable. And vegetables are usually grown in the ground while fruits are grown in trees.
