if you are against, which ones cannot you stand? what are your own views on them? what do you make of the food? if you had things your way would you ban them altogether? i haven't been to a mcdonalds, KFC or burger king to name for over a year. especially as i have to watch what i eat and as i am a young person at 25 years old, i want to remain as healthy and fit and live as long as possible, i walk a lot too, in terms of exercise. i personally avoid eating at mcdonalds and those types of places because i cannot stand the hype surrounding them and the food they serve. the lack of variety in terms of more and more healthy fresh fruit and vegetables at most fast food outlets, is shocking to see. mcdonalds may claim to have a healthy eating range, but i still prefer to buy a bunch of grapes from a cheap fruit and veg store than fruit at mcdonalds, as well as a sandwich, yoguart and a diet coke.

For the most part, I'm against them, but they ARE becoming more healthy. The only ones I visit are In N Out Burgers (they are fresh, and always have the most delicious burgers) and Baja Fresh (yummy, affordable fish tacos). Of course, they are both originally Californian. ;)

I like to stay healthy too, and don't visit fast food restaurants more than once every six months. Like you, I prefer going to Trader Joe's or Safeway, to buy fresh snacks there. Peaches, bananas, apples and grapes are always easy to eat, and Trader Joe's has an aisle full of healthy packs of dried fruit, trail mix and nuts.

The best bet? Make yourself a pack lunch.

Against, because I think eating should be a time of relaxation and a time for people to get together (a time out)

I encourage my children to eat healthily and always give fast food snacks of; apples, bananas, grapes, cherry tomato's, nuts etc.
Don't get me wrong they eat cripes and cakes too, but in moderation.
I never tell my children that a McDonald's is wrong, so if they choose to have one that is their choice, so can decide for themselves; if they like it or not.

My children love sport and have chosen for themselves a healthier option

I believe that; if children are given vegetables and fruit from an early age, they will never have a problem eating them.
We all eat and drink things we shouldn't - but what we need to do is keep a good balance.

I'm for them. I don't prefer McDonald's or Burger King because what the hell is in that "meat" that they serve as hamburgers? Yuck! But I do like fast food places like Wendy's (which has excellent chicken sandwiches, salads and chili) and submarine sandwich shops like D'Angelo's and Subway. I don't prefer the greasy French fries at most fast food places, but there are many other menu options nowadays, and face it, when you're a busy adult professional, it is convenient to be able to get a meal on the fly sometimes. So I am all for fast food restaurants!

I'm for them. We need to be able to eat quickly at times, with little fuss, and one of the advantages of fast food that most people don't think about is it's cheap. It is very fashionable to bad-mouth fast food, but I notice a whole lot of people do go there often. I think it probably includes some of the people who bad-mouth it publicly, because the PC crowd is not long on consistency or honesty.

Personally, I think the main reason they are considered not PC is that they serve meat -- meat is basically what they do serve. They started with hamburgers and branched out in response to people wanting variety. And of course the PC crowd want us to believe meat is immoral and unhealthy.

They also serve salads and usually include some low-calorie items, but I will grant you they are not primarily geared toward dieters.

I notice you found it necessary to state your "credentials" as a health-oriented person, and mention aspects extraneous to the issue of fast food. You also say "If you are against, which ones cannot you stand," (not good grammar, by the way), but nothing about if you do like them, which ones.

I am against fast food places like KFC, McD's and Burger King. There is so much hype, like you said, and I really don't like that it is nothing but processed food, fried in oil and served in questionable hygiene standards. Everytime I've been in places it is a mess. What is the kitchen like I hate to think? It might taste great for some but I think about what goes into my food. A cream cheese salad bagel and smoothie is SO much better fast food.

Depends on the choices u would give.

Personally I cant stand McDonalds & CARLJR.
Both are substandard quality in my view.

I love BurgerKing and KFC though.
Healthwise though I would prefer Wendies per Saladbar choices.

Overall though, I would prefer a regular restaurant over fast food choices...

Me personally I do not like them but I appreciate they do have a place in modern society.

I see that many of these fast food outlets are now turning to healthy eating options and that can only be for the better.

there are healthier fast food resturants now like subway and other sandwich makers. subway make sandwichies while you wait with lots of salads and veg. i love fast food resturants. They are reasonable price and clean and quick. they do a lot of healthier foods now and i don't see any harm with them at all, so long as you go now and again and not all the time. i rather go to macdonalds than some fancy resturant that cost the earth for a meal you can get in tesco or asda.
