It's not a sharp pain, it's more like an ache. It's been a couple of days and he says it's only getting worse! What are the possibilities?? We think maybe his wisdom teeth...?

What are the possibilities? WIsdom tooth, tooth abscess or gum abscess would be the most common and most likely.

Wisdom teeth are rough to cut! Did he bite down on something hard, sharp, or rough that might have cut his gum? Try rinsing the mouth with peroxide and be sure to spit it all out. If it's just an irritated gum, this will help it. If it's just one spot, use a Q-tip with peroxide a few times a day.

Wisdom tooth's pain is usually localise ie in the particular spot where the tooth is about to pop out of the gum. If the pain is generally through his mouth, Please see a dentist.

Could be gum disease gingivitis, try rinsing with salty water it will help with the infection and inflammation along with gentle brushing of the area that is sore

Try swishing with Listerine a couple of times, if it doesn't seem to feel even a little better, I would call a dentist immediately.
