what year and make of car a lot of new cars do have a sensor in the passenger front seat but only takes about 50lbs to turn it on might be a problem with the air bags or the seat sensor

New cars are equipped with this feature. I think that the weight to turn it on is 100lbs. Sometimes if you aren't sitting properly in the seat it won't come on either. Also, try putting the seatbelt on.

No!!! The airbag will be in use when you have an accident. The airbag is supposed to protect you from hitting the steering wheel or anything else thats in your way. You are supposed to have the air bag hit you so you do'nt hit the dashboard. It's supposed to save your life.

i own a repair shop, and it should come on,,it might have a bad sensor on it,,im not sure if there is a weight limit on it or not,,i know i have replaced a lot of bad sensors on them,,the dealer told me that the sensors went bad if the seat was not used in a while ,they said it caused the sensors to stick on them,im not sure if there right but i have put lot of them on,good luck, maybe this will help.if it don't work id have it checked out just to be safe,.

I think the airbag sensor is faulty. Have it checked first to
confirm it before travelling in the car for safety.
Ohterwise, it gives a sense of false hope on the functioning of
the airbag which may be faulty too.

You probably need to have the computer sensor replaced that controls the light.
