Pretty much every couple is "mixed" to some degree or another. No two people share all the same tastes, beliefs, attitudes and backgrounds. Sometimes the most challenging marriages are those between two people who appear to be the same on the outside but who hold opposing values, especially on how to raise the children.

If you have to deal with other people's ignorance, that can be stressful, but a healthy sense of humor is often enough to overcome it. Do consider the challenges any future children might experience though. Some communities can be very hard on children they see as "mixed".

Otherwise, talk long and hard about your values and goals for the future. Explore your ideas of what makes for a "good life". Where will you live? Where will you worship? How will you educate the children? Will you both work or will one of you stay home? Questions like these will help you determine just how "mixed" you two really are and if a long term relationship will work for you.

Good Luck!

Advantages- learn about a different culture, experience a different perspective on things, you get to be with the person you truly love, you get to be happy,

Disadvantages- some people may not approve (who cares!), you may have to agree to disagree on some issues

As long as you love your husband/wife and keep an open mind it will work out! Don't worry about other peoples opinions all that matters is that you are happy!

My husband is of a different race and religion. The only disadvantage I can think of is when it comes time to turn on the stereo! I want Sherryl Crowl...he wants R Kelly. lol...

Everything else is not really in terms of advantages or disadvantages because it really depends on how you look at things. To me our differences have heped broaden each other's views of religion, food, politics...etc.

Either of these can be good or bad...but it really depends on the couple to make it all work out!

Oh...yeah....there might be some realllly ignorant people out there who will ask you why you didn't marry within your own race...but just ignore them! They are too stupid to be considered a disadvantage!

i'm in an interracial relationship, and there are plenty of advantages like the food!!. i really dont' think there are any true disadvantages because no two people are ever alike so no matter who you are in a relationship with, there will be disadvantages due to differences and preferences. marriage is all about compromise!!
