Damage Control,
Yeah, if you can figure it out. I think that many who say WWJD don't really have a clear idea of what it is that He would do. Rather they do what they think He might do.

I think it is giving reason to get into the word and answer the situation correctly keeping it "What Would Jesus Do"
Doing what Jesus did is the result, because we are instructed to follow his life example. As for the person mentioning Jesus Died on the Cross, yes that is the thruth, however the word tells us Jesus was the final blood shed for sin, therefore no one will place themself on the cross again. He has Risen from the dead, praise God, conquering that mission. Glad to see you know the "truth" and mentioned the death on the cross, it was grand for Him to die for us.
However, great question.

It's implied that we should do what Jesus did. But sometimes we have to stop and think what WOULD Jesus do? Jesus never had to deal with some things in our world today, like cars, internet, phones, movies, political parties, etc. So we have to take what we know of Jesus' character and do what he would have done in certain modern situations.

It's the same thing in the form of a statement. And you can't do everything Jesus did. The whole being crucified and raising yourself from the dead might be kind of tough.

It is a nice idea but if every Christian quit work, left their family and started wandering around recruiting disciples and preaching and teaching soon society would be back to tents to live in and sandals for transportation.
On a broader spectrum love, forgive, be graceful, be merciful, be kind works in both statements.

"Do what Jesus did" is telling you to do what Jesus did. GOD wants you to live your life based on what Jesus did, but only you can choose to do that. HE cant tell you what to do.
"What would Jesus do?" Is asking you to look at what you are doing and compare it to how Jesus would handle that situation.

No, it shouldn't be that.
Primarily because we cannot save human souls. Nor can we ordinarily walk on water and such.

Because we should think about Him as He IS...alive and living, and there to help us with our everyday choices, and not in the past tense.
