Is anyone as tired as I am of the media freenzy surounding the tragic accident in the NYC VFR corridor? The media types are looking for sinsationalizm and titilating news gossip. Debbie Hersman from the NTSB is doing a great job and sticking with the known facts. I certaintley hope there will not be a knee jerk reaction brought on by mis informed political powers and news media prattle.

I second congrats to Debbie. Imagine all the people she is charged with trying to eduacate on a 3rd grade level about how airplanes work and how airplanes crash.

Funny how you never hear about the thousands and thousands of flights every day that go off without a hitch. When will people start giving credit to all the people who do their jobs every day and make sure we're safe up there. Maybe that would help people with their fears about flying.

I was disgusted with the newscasters. They HAD to "speculate" what could possibly have gone wrong. In a three minute piece they said "this is just speculation, and we will have to wait for the NTSB report, but..." about 10 times! In the face of not possibly knowing they had to make something up to stir up peoples' irrational fears.

NYC news is very competitive and very self-centered. If it happens in New York, it is a BIG DEAL to New Yorkers since they don't even know that there is a big old country out there besides them.

-Hi Pecker -

Agree.

But you have to understand that when you have a "news" program going 24/7, you're gonna run-out of "news" to report.

And you're in competition for viewers - so you have to breathlessly report insignificant events and hype them for all they're worth - and beyond!

So these "news" channels are really "entertainment" channels!

The price paid for 24-hr coverage.

But then, there that's why remotes have channel-change capabilities!

CQ - watching the History channel!

so don't listen to the news, or read the papers, go for a walk, ride your bike, get away from the media.
