When you get your cat a litter box, my advise is buy the non fragrent litter, pour it into the box, find your cats fav toilet spot (keep away from the cats food), as they do not like to do it near their food, place your cat in the litter box and start to scrape its paw back and forth like it does once hes finished and hes covering his mess, this shows the cat that thats where he should go. Then once it learns to do it in the tray, pour some of the dirty litter in the garden and do the same process again in the garden, start off with alot of litter then slowly take away the litter little by little then one day your cat will be going outside in the garden and in the litter tray in the house hope it works out for you.

Hi there...toilet training a cat isn't an easy feat to accomplish, however it can be done if you promise to stick with it once you begin. It can take some cats several months to learn and others even much longer. Persistance and an inordinate amount of patience is key as once you start they will have repeated accidents therefore you must stay on top of their training or you'll end up having a cat inappropriately soiling your home even if you bring back the litter box.

Here's a detailed website that provides instructions on how to toilet train kitties: http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet.html
