Has anyone had a dog that became more destructive and more bitchy after they were spayed. My husky just seems to have gotten worse since we fixed her. I just want to know if anyone els has experienced this. My lab when she was fixed became much calmer and sweeter. But my husky just seems pissed.

Im a vet assistant and attended the surgery so I know everything went fine. Also, she is a good dog and not mean cause she knows better than that, but it just seems like she is mad at the world.

It's not unlike when a human has a birth control surgery, it can affect the hormone levels. Some get it worse than others, which would explain the different reactions. Also, they tend to still go into heat, so maybe your husky is just temporarily frustrated about her new problem. Give it some time, she'll come around. ♥

How old was she when you had her spayed?

If she had already reached maturity, (which occurs at or around 6 months and is usually marked by her first estrous cycle), her behaviors are those of an adult.

If she hadn't had her first cycle and is exhibiting odd behaviors it might just be an indication of her need for some obedience training.

I would suggest some obedience training anyway as it also teaches the owner how to communicate best with their dog.

It might be worth your while to call a Behavioral Specialist, this could possibly lead to more dangerous things like biting.
I've had dogs and cats for over 30 years and never once had this problem

I'm having the same problem from my new Jack Russelll who I just got from the Humane Society. She just got spayed and she is pissy. She also tries to hump things.

I am not sure why. It should not happen to girl dogs only to the males. Ask your vet if it continues! Good Luck!
