I want to get her off of babyfood, just nervous about choking. I would be interested in what any of ya'll have fed your babies. Thanks

Okay, well, my daughter is 13 months and we still buy the baby food. It's hard to find things that are as healthy as baby food for them. She does eat some yogurt (without chunks), mashed potatoes (flavored with formula NOT butter b/c of fat and sodium in butter), scrambled eggs (but ours are egg beaters) and she likes applesauce (unsweetned). You can get frozen veggies and blend them up, same thing with fresh fruits. Watch the sodium on regular foods, it is amazing how high things are. And stay away from canned foods because it's even higher. My family and I eat very healthy and I won't just feed our daughter anything. She is growing great and is very outgoing little one! But I think it is important to watch what's being given to them. Good Luck!

I was just as nervous about choking (mine teethed late & had one heck of a gag reflex for anything different in texture!).

For a first solid food, I found plain Cheerios (not honey, etc) were great... They soften in the mouth, they are not too hard to chomp on even without teeth, the child can start to feed themself by hand, plus they have a hole and are not a choking hazard.

HTH

Hopefully your question was pointed at Fathers, too. (Yes, some of us actually do help raise our children)

At my doctor's request, I didn't feed my daughter solid foods until she was one year old. Then I only fed her the different kinds of cereal for babies. Rice cereal is the only one I can think of, but I know there's more.

Your child's doctor should be telling you all this stuff. If your child is 11 months, you'll be going in for your one year check up soon. Wait on the new foods until the doc says it's okay.

I would suggest plenty of veggies and babies love mashed potatoes. You can also give them things like applesauce, peaches and other soft fruits. Lean meats cut into small pieces are also good.

How about hashbrowns, toast, jello, mac n cheese, spaghetti, steamed veggies, fruit cups, chicken. All of these things have to be cut up into tiny pieces, and this also applies only if your child has enough teeth to chew.

Applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese cubes, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots boiled really soft, beens, mac n cheese, spaghetti cut up before cooking into bite size peices, and if you have a blender anything pureed would work.

Mashed Potatoes, Any veggi- just smash it, plus they have these little fruit and veggi puffs by gerber and they melt.. that is what i used.. by 1 yr. my son ate pretty much whatever.. he jsut learned how to chew it up. but i would just feed him off my plate and smush the food so that it was not too hard.. plus small peices are great.. :-) good luck

I fed my baby girl steak, which didnt seem to agree with her tummy at first, so I tried liver and onions instead, and she gobbled it right up.
