Go to a different vet. Cats are OK to be spayed now as long as they weigh at least 3 pounds due to advancements in anesthesia. If she gets pregnant at her age she could have serious problems as her body is not fully developed. She could either miscarriage or have the kittens and bleed out. Besides, just like with humans, if she has sex with a stray cat she could catch a deadly disease. You could preach all day to her about safe sex, but alas they don't make kitty condoms yet.

LOL, anyways, call some vets around your area....at least one is bound to be modern enough to spay her at her age. What can I say, some vets are still stuck in the 90's and dont read up on advancements.

Does it matter what the risk is? Do not let get pregnant. If she is in heat then keep her in.Most kittens can get pregnant at 5-6months of age but some can get pregnant at 4 months.Too many unwanted cats in this world because people just throw their cat thats inheat outside so they dont have to be pestered by the annoying crying.

You can get your kitten spayed right now. Do not wait. There are many clinics in the US and they will spay a young cat if she is healthy and weighs three to four pounds which your cat probably does.

Call 1-800-spayUSA for a clinic near you.

Cats can be spayed quite young now and it is fine. I think you get charged more if she is in heat, but sounds like you really need it done. Call a vet.
