My friend's British boyfriend wrote me today asking for advice on a good place to propose in NYC. He's coming to NY in November and plans to do it then. I've thought of a few places, but nothing I love and I really want to come up with something good. It could be anywhere - restaurant, bar, park, etc... I just want to avoid the cliche places (i.e. Empire State Building, Central Park carriage ride, Rainbow Room). He's a London native & she's a Cali girl, so I really want to come through for them.

How about going to a Broadway show and proposing during intermission? Or try an Off-Broadway show like Tony and Tina's Wedding and propose during the wedding reception.

Coney Island - Nathans or go the aquarium and propose over a hot chocolate overlooking the ocean

Radio City Music Hall -- the Christmas show should be playing.

How about contacting one of the TV shows that tape in New York and propose on TV? Try the new Rachael Ray show -- http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/

How about breakfast at Tiffany's? Just like the movie, get coffee and pastry and propose outside of Tiffany's.

Have afternoon tea at the Plaza Hotel -- or drinks in the famous Oak Room

The River Cafe Restaurant-how romantic*****
One If By Land Two If By Sea Restaurant-very romantic
Limousine ride at night in Manhattan with champagne, the lights at night, and the privacy of the limo. sipping champagne, smooching, and cuddling while riding through the greatest city in the world is the best. be sure to go to Mulberry Street in Little Italy to get a couple of Italian pastries to eat with your champagne or later in the room! while you are using the limo you could get a few slices of pizza at Ray's Famous Pizza or a hot dog at Papaya Palace or Nathan's. if you wish to have a late casual dinner then make reservations at Joe Allen's around 10:15 to 10:30 (after the plays let out). many celebrities dine here. quiet and nice!
congrats!

I vote for The River Cafe. It's a gorgeous place just across the Brooklyn Bridge with views of the entire Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. I have a cousin who lives in Manhattan. It's their favorite spot so they took us there for dinner. Here's the link to their website. Check out the Brooklyn Bridge dessert! The food was awesome and service was spectacular. Be sure to look at the photo gallery at their site....

I can't think of anything better than The Promenade at Battery Park with a view of the Statue of Liberty, the Hudson River and Ground Zero.

Send me a message if you want SPECIFIC info.

Rector Park is beautiful and has a view of the staue of liberty... top of the rock in Rockefeller Center has an awesome view. Also a billboard in Times Square is a neat idea.

I suggest proposing at lunch at the Mandarin Oriental overlooking CP on a clear fall day. If the leaves are changing, it makes for an unforgettable moment.
