what are they good for? do i drink one after i work out?

Protein shakes are great for a mulitple reasons. They can be used as a meal replacement (ones that have 200+ calories). After a workout they're great for helping your body recover and building lean body mass (muscle). You want one with a fair amount of easy digestable carbodydrates and protein (yes, I said carbohydrates). The reason for that being, you're body's prime source of fuel is carbohydrates, and after your workout your body is going to be pretty much delpleated of all fuel. The body's second choice for fuel is protein, so by having those carbs in the shake your body can use them for fuel and have the rest of the protein in the shake all for muscle repair.

They are a good meal on the go. It depends on what type of shake it is. Some add bulk and are high in calories so guys looking to add weight drink them find out what type it is and my best advise the guys at GNC know all about them.

good for getting buff

you drink em all through the day, but yes especially after working out.

u should drink one before (hour) you work out and one after you work out. ONLY if your strength training (lifiting weight) they make your muscles repair faster and get bigger faster.

If you want to get really slim, don't over do protien, concentrate on restricting calories.
