My RCA keeps blowing fuses. We bought replacement fuses but it keeps blowing them! Any ideas why it might be doing that or any ideas of where I can find schematics for my TV?

It's a line fuse in the tv. With Christmas fast approaching I don't have the dough for a new tv and would like to fix this one. Pluse it fits perfectly in my new entertainment center! :D

Do you know how to read a schematic ? if you do then I can set you on the way to a fix !!. I would start testing the bridge rectifier diode pack and the surge resister if the diode pack is short circuit . If ok so far next on the list is the power supply regulator transistor this may be short circuit . Put your multi meter on to the middle pin on the transistor and measure the resistance to chassis , it should give a reading that is over 10k ohm, if only few ohms then it is shorted !! Similar procedure for the line amp transistor and eht stages. Look you don`t really need the schematic do you ? you only need that for tracing sneaky faults !! then you need an intimate knowledge of the workings !!. Well good luck with this ! Cheers Pete

Which fuses?
The 120v fuse in your house panel?
A line fuse in the TV?

There may be a high resistance short to ground, if that's the case and its not really obvious where it is, just buy a new TV.
The price of a new TV is worth the piece of mind.

My 32" LCD HDTV Samsung was $1100 and is fantastic.

You'll need to know the chassis number, or model number.

Chassis number example:

CTC175A would be a chassis number. It's on the back of the TV with the model number.

What could be causing the fuse to blow?
A quick check... see if you have a shorted horizontal output transistor.

Get a new TV and dont buy RCA. My dad always buys RCAs because he thinks they are still made in America, I have no idea if this is true but I do know RCAs are junk.

This is the place you would want to ask this question.

to get your own copy of the schematics you would have to call RCA and buy them from the company.

please include the model number in full, also the chassis number to identify the right schematics..(",)
