I can't really concentrate and feel bad about myself alot, I've been thinking about counselling, but I don't know if I'm comfortable talking to someone about me feeling like crap alot. Is it a good thing to consider, does it help?

And I'm talking about conselling, not taking meds or seeing like a phyciatrist or physcologist or anything (excuse the spelling)

Like any treatment, it's not guaranteed to help. But it certainly CAN help quite a bit. I highly recommend it, myself. I just wish I could afford to see my counselor more. ( :

Well, unless you're clinically depressed and need meds, the best way to avoid depression is to exercise everyday for an hour, and stay busy. The foods you eat can change your mood also. Remember you have the power to control your own thoughts. If you go to counseling, all the can do at best is talk you into helping yourself. So you see, your only real help, is self help.

Yes, I feel counseling could and does help, in my case I needed more than that but if not for the counseling it would have been worse.
Don't let people make you believe you only need yourself to help with depression! When people are depressed having someone to talk to that you know won't judge you can really help. Counselors can help you think of different ways to deal with depression and little tricks to help on this life's journey.

counseling/therapy can be very empowering and is the best way to combat depression. think of it as life-coaching.be patient as it can talk awhile to build relationship and establishing trust with your councilor it can also take awhile getting used to talking about your feelings. plus it is a lot of hard work but well worth the effort ! btw just so you know feeling depressed 6 days a week in not a bout of of depression it is depression. take control of it before it has the chance to take control of you.
good luck,
doda

Of course it helps. Trust me, i speak from expirience. It may not be comfortable the first few times, but then, when you relax, you will se that it can help a lot.

i'm glad you asked this question. you should definatley go to counselling. why do you feel so bad about yourself anyway?
if you don't mind,..i'd like to know. because i don't think any good person(which you sound like one) should feel bad about theirselves in anyway.
p.s. things will get better. trust me.

It DOES help. No one feels comfortable their first time.
