Tonsillitis can be rough for adults. Generally you're on antibiotics for 5-7 days. The rash is a common adverse effect of antibiotics but is not associated with tonsillitis.

Yes i had it frequently, getting worse and worse attacks. It would take about 2 -3 weeks from the start of the attack until I felt anywhere near normal again. I had to give in eventually and had the tonsils out when I was 32. I never had a rash. I beleive that is bad news, see your doctor.

I've had tonsillitis several times and a quincey once. It's generally taken me about a week, but once it flared up again and I had to get another 7 days worth of antiibiotics. Not sure about the rash though, think you should get that checked out. Try calling NHS direct if you're in the UK, that way you don't have to go out in the cold. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, over and over again for about 3 years until they took my tonsils out last October. No rash though - temperatures and tonsils covered in yuk, but no rash.

I had it twice. Last Advent (beginning of Dec '05) and at New year. It took a week first time and anti-biotics and second time ten days and anti-biotics. As a professional singer it knackered me up for the entire Christmas/New Year period and meant I had to lay off singing for 6 weeks to be sure I was alright. No rashes though.

This sounds like glandular fever or a reaction to the antibiotics, go back the docs and get it checked

you might have mononucleosis ,amoxicillin should not be used because if mononucleosis is mistaken as tonsillitis and amoxicillin is given, a rash might develop.

for the last decades i had this problems.. i never had cold drinks, cold water, any thing cold, no pickles, chutneys etc ... i started yoga for i was highly influenced by swamy ramdevji maharaj, i am doing PRANAYAM for 40 minutes daily, the problem is over, but it does not mean u become careless, watch him on aastha channel, and buy his CD on PRANAYAM, be very regular, punctual, dedicated... and see the the result gradually... but no stopping of PRANAYAM, they say it is either medicating or pranayam, u will find your self fresh and alert too
