They will kill the fleas around the neck area, but they won't kill the ones behind the ears, around the face, and on the hind quarters. Basically, they do little good because fleas will avoid the neck area and continue their lifecycle at other sites on the animal.

Ask your vet about Advantage (flea control)

Flea collars work, it takes about two to three days before you notice but they do work. A common mistake people make is they don't buy the correct flea collar. Read the box, make sure you know the strength of the chemicals on it, decide if it strong enough then put it on the cat and make sure that the cat doesn't take it off (Which they are extremely good at).

Though you shouldn't give your cat a flea collar and frontline, you should only use one product.

Flea collars are a waist of perfectly good plastic. They do work to an extent meaning they will only kill fleas around the neck area. Therefore, they will avoid the neck and continue to live on other parts of the body. Continue with the frontline, that will be your best bet. I know it is expensive but if your cat is strickly indoors and since winter is coming, the fleas won't be so bad and you hopefully won't have to use it as often considering you don't have a bad infestation.

The best place to put a flea collar is in the vacuum cleaner.

Cut off about 1 inch from the flea collar and throw it in the vacuum bag...

No, it won't. Put the flea collar in your vacuum cleaner bag and it will kill any fleas or eggs you suck up with it.

Take the collar off the cat as it can cause irritations or possible poisoning. The Frontline will work and you should not use anything else with it.

Yes, Flea collars do work. However alot of animals have reactions to these types of flea repletants. It could cause a rash under the collar. Frontline is your best option if that's what you've been using, I prefer Advantage.

Please DO NOT combine flea control products.

Not knowing what chemicals are in the collar, I can't tell you the combination frontline and collar are safe. Take the collar off.
Let the frontline do it's job.

Most flea collars do very little, and the potential harm is great.

Please do not use flea collars. I have spent one to many nights in emergency medicine treating pesticide toxicity from unsafe collars, and have seen one to many cats come in with torn up, swollen mouths because they got the collar stuck between their jaws trying to wiggle out of it and the chemicals burned their mouth- plus made 'em sick.
