People come with different conceptions and purposes, so I'd have to say all the above. Myself, I come here to learn how other people think, challenge my own beliefs, encourage others to see things from a different perspective (whether they eventually adopt that perspective or not), and socialize. It's helped me firm up my beliefs and be able to express them more clearly.

All of the above. Yes. Also some people come to try to make others feel bad about themselves so that these people can feel a little better about themselves.

Other days are because I feel irritable and want to argue without ticking off someone I live with.

I asked this question a few weeks ago and found that tons of people come here simply to irritate other people. They were incredibly proud of it. I shake my head and continue to not understand.

I don't know about others, although many come to reinforce their deeply held misconceptions, but I come here to try to cure the fetid, necrotic disease that is religious belief.
